Versatile Ginger Rogers proves that her sense of timing extends beyond the realm of song and dance into that of comedy in this sharp, sophisticated and hilarious romantic comedy. She plays single department store clerk Polly Parrish, an upstanding young woman who invites scandal when she chooses to adopt the baby she found abandoned on her doorstep. Naturally everyone assumes that she has joined the ranks of the fallen women. The real laughs come when her dashing, womanizing boss (David Niven) tries to straighten the girl out. … More

Grason Kanin's witty comedy in which Ginger Rogers plays a single mother was a commercial hit, demonstrating her viability as a dramatic actress and comedienne after her separation from dance partner Fred Astaire.
Audience Reviews for Bachelor Mother
WONDERFUL film! A young Niven is excellent, and Ginger Rogers is radiant! Very funny, with excellent supporting performances.
This is only of my favorite comedies from the 30's. It is so darn cute, especially for the time that it came out. David Niven and Ginger Rogers have the chemistry to pull it off.
This was a great movie! I love Ginger Rogers and although I love her musicals with Fred Astaire, I love watching her do her thing without him.
