In THE FLESH AND THE FIENDS (1959), an innovative and principled doctor named Robert Knox (Peter Cushing) needs corpses in order to conduct experiments and advance medical science--but his suppliers aren't scrupulous about how they acquire, or manufacture, the bodies. GRAVEYARD OF HORROR (1971) stars Bill Curran as a scientist working on a transmutation project, who decides to experiment on himself, with disastrous results. Zombies and a bloodsucking man/lizard hybrid help make this bizarre European film memorable. Finally, RAIDERS OF THE LIVING DEAD (1986) is an oddity centering on an archetypal mad scientist's zombification of executed convicts.
