Bad Education: The 15 Worst Teachers Ever

School's back in session!

Today's lesson plan: arithmetic, world history, penmanship. And then for P.E., it's a freeplay choice between ritualistic humiliation, Russian roulette, or being possessed by a parasitic alien.

Yes, school isn't always fun and games. And sometimes, it's the teachers who actively make it a living hell. Here then are the 15 worst teachers ever captured on film, the kind who won't be showing up on any superintendent's honor roll.

Begin Bad Education: The 15 Worst Teachers on Film!
Are your (least) favorites on this list? Who do you want stricken out of your permanent record?

For Ferris Bueller, I would've chosen Mr. Rooney over Ben Stein's econ teacher.

As for bad principals, you can't have Mr. Vernon without including Mr. Strickland from Back To The Future.

Methinks Mr. Rooney was a principal, not a teacher, and Mr. Vernon was a teacher, not a principal. Technically speaking.

Vernon was the principal, he made that clear when he was talking to the janitor. Otherwise, I would've had the same thought as you.

Strange that the principal would watch over Saturday detention, but whatever.

I expected Mr. Hand to be on here. Though didn't he turn out to be a decent guy in the end? Maybe that's why. Can't remember, haven't seen Fast Times since it first hit cable.

NOBODY'S HEARD OF IT probably; Heaven Help Us.
HBO Pictures, Limited Release. Heaven Help Us (also known as Catholic Boys) is a 1985 comedy-drama film starring Andrew McCarthy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Kevin Dillon, Donald Sutherland, Wallace Shawn, Stephen Geoffreys, John Heard, and Patrick Dempsey.

--

Of course there's that PENCIL NECK GEEK teacher in Pink Floyd--THE WALL who totally MOCKS Pink.

"Poems, everyone . . . foolish rubbish" and then The Teacher's wife is a royal Bit'h to the teacher and he takes it out on the school kids.

"You can't have your pudding if you don't eat your meat!" PINK FLOYD--THE WALL.

--
Then there's The Gym Teacher who totally shoots a load into Laura Dern during a fire alarm in TEACHERS 1986; Laura Dern gets pregnant and Nick Nolte takes her to get an abortion . . .

nobody's heard of TEACHERS either (bummer):

Teachers is a 1984 comedy-drama film starring Nick Nolte, JoBeth Williams, Ralph Macchio, and Judd Hirsch, written by W. R. McKinney and directed by Arthur Hiller. The movie was shot in Columbus, Ohio, mostly at the former Central High School. The building is now home to the COSI Columbus museum.

of course there's TO SIR, WITH LOVE with Sydney Portier and BLACKBOARD JUNGLE with Sydney Portier AND Vic Morrow.

It just seems like most people haven't heard of anything these days . . . the movies aren't on the "15 Worst Teachers list" (Pink Floyd-the Wall "should" be as well). it seems like "everybody" is born post-1985 and "nobody" has seen movies dated before 1990 except for Star Wars, Batman, Superman.

Are you born after 1985?

I got it, here: then why didn't anyone here mention Heaven Help Us or Teachers?
(They are quintessential "teacher movies").

If people only discuss Batman, Superman, X-Men, and Fantastic Four, one must assume movie tastes are limited.

(if a super-hero movie is mentioned on this site it gets 97 comments) any other film mentioned gets 5 or 10 comments.)

Watch them both tonight . . .they are still AWESOME!!!! (rent them, build the nation's economy . . . I heard on National Public Radio [NPR dot org] this morning that Russia is already enslaved to China. China has ALL THE MONEY in the world now and CHINA is slowly taking-over other countries' economies. So it is important to keep America's economy alive.)

ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL PART II (THEY SET THE TEACHER ON FIRE!!!!!)

PINK FLOYD-THE WALL!!!!!!

When we grew up and went to school
There were certain teachers who would hurt the children any way they could

A boring ready region upon anything we did exposing every weakness how the kid did bye the kid (laughter)

Out in the middle of nowhere
they were at home at night
their fat and psychopathic wives would beat them,
too within inches of their lives

(beat)

We don?t need no education
We don?t need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the class room
Teachers leave those kids alone
(yells) Hey, teachers! Leave those kids alone!

All in all, it's just a
Nother brick in the wall

All in all, you're just a
Nother brick in the wall

(british kids)

Yeah at least Snape actually knew his subject and students learned something from him, unlike Umbridge. Plus, as bad as Snape was, he never made students write lines using their own blood.

Also, I don't think Mr. Kimble was a bad teacher, except for maybe his first couple of days of teaching. His methods were actually pretty effective even if they were unusual.

The most glaring omission here is the Trunchbull from Matilda. Technically she's a headmaster and not a teacher, but she locks students in a coffin with sharp nails sticking in it and hurls little girls out the window. That has to be worse than anything any of these teachers have done.

My school is a model of discipline; use the rod beat the child that's my motto.

They're all mistakes; children, filthy nasty little things glad I never was one.

I agree, they don't get much worse than Trunchbull.
