Synopsis: Suzette (Goldie Hawn) and Vinnie (Susan Sarandon) were groupies in their heyday, partying with the likes of Frank Zappa (who dubs them the Banger Sisters), Jim Morrison, and virtually every other... Suzette (Goldie Hawn) and Vinnie (Susan Sarandon) were groupies in their heyday, partying with the likes of Frank Zappa (who dubs them the Banger Sisters), Jim Morrison, and virtually every other rock star and roadie that passed through Los Angeles. Twenty years later, Suzette is a bartender who finds herself too old to stay in the Los Angeles rock scene. Distraught, she heads to Phoenix in search of her former best friend, picking up neurotic and quirky Harry (Geoffrey Rush) at a gas station along the way. But when Suzette arrives in Phoenix, she is surprised to find that her once wild friend may as well be a different person. Married to a lawyer with political aspirations and the mother of two teenage daughters, Vinnie is now LaVinia, a refined, cultured pillar of the community. With Suzette back in town, LaVinia is confronted with her past and finds that she must make peace with it to fully embrace her true self. Hawn and Sarandon are well cast, and Rush is a scene-stealer as a wounded man who finds new inspiration in Suzette. Writer Bob Dolman makes his directorial debut with THE BANGER SISTERS. [More]

Diversión que no pretende innovar o dar respuestas, una de esas cintas que puede verse sin mayores culpas en la sala de cine. Goldie Hawn vale por completo cualquier precio que pueda pagarse por la entrada...

'The Banger Sisters leaves you with a smile [but]...loses its imaginative bite...when all the ugly loose ends are neatly and unnaturally tied in a Hollywood bow.'

Like those to Rome, all roads in The Banger Sisters inevitably lead to a joke about Hawn's breasts, which constantly threaten to upstage the woman sporting them.

Instead of digging more deeply and drawing more complex characters and motivations, [Dolman] skims along the surface, plays to the mass market, and delivers a sitcom which will be forgotten a week after it is seen.

...a tragic misuse of two presumably talented women.

I'm in a deep funk after watching this offensive, unfunny comedy starring two of my favorite actresses.

Hawn and Sarandon manage to pull off the transition back into party girls, if barely. I'm just glad Bea Arthur and Betty White passed on the script.

Though it doesn't quite rock, The Banger Sisters rolls along well enough.

[Hawn] thoroughly enchants and convinces in what is essentially a comic role, one that rests on her proven strengths but offers ample opportunity to explore her free-spirited persona like never before.

A film not without its flaws, but with a great lead pair of actresses and a smart and fun story, these Sisters have enough sass and verve to make an afternoon or evening with them worth your while.
