Trailer Bulletin: Basic Instinct 2
by Scott Weinberg | February 15, 2006
Discuss Article
We've been hearing about the possibility of a "Basic Instinct" sequel for several years now, and the thing's finally finished with and ready for release. It stars an older, but still plainly sexy, Sharon Stone as femme fatale Catherine Trammell, who is once again suspected of committing a sex-related murder. Click here for the trailer (while wondering why this flick isn't going direct-to-video).

"Novelist Catherine Tramell is once again in trouble with the law, and Scotland Yard appoints psychiatrist Dr. Andrew Glass to evaluate her. Though, like Detective Nick Curran before him, Glass is entranced by Tramell and lured into a seductive game."

Written by Henry Bean ("Internal Affairs") and Leora Barish ("Desperately Seeking Susan") and directed by Michael Caton-Jones ("Rob Roy"), "Basic Instinct 2" stars Sharon Stone, David Morrissey, David Thewlis, Hugh Dancy, and Charlotte Rampling.

(Interesting to note that the producers were so adamant about letting you know about Ms. Stone's newest crotch-shot that they included it in the trailer, but only before jamming a huge black box over the offending body region. Movie marketing is a crazy profession, I'm tellin' ya.)

This trailer is hilarious... just to hear Sharon Stone speaking in that low, purring, half-out-of-breath voice in each and every scene, as if that was the regular voice of a regular human being just cracked me up... LOL

well, i'm a little intrigued...don't say it isn't interesting to know that they had to cut the movie because of an orgy scene with sharon stone...the uncut dvd will probably be the version to watch...i'm gonna stay optimistic on this one...negative replies to this are to follow.

I hate to be bitter, but I kinda of see this film just as a way to show us that Stone's "Still got it." Not my type of film. I probably won't see it.

The trailer actually didn't deem all that bad, apart from Stone's dialogue. Everytime she spoke I started to chuckle.

WTF, is this article talking about? Jamming a big black box over her crotch shot??

It's called the back of a chair... nothing digital. She sat in a chair backwards.

Ah, the strains of a Jerry Goldsmith score. So good to hear it again... even though it's soon road raged by some Media Ventures conga beat from hell.

This movie is a joke. No slick marketing and no Sharon Stone 20 years later could get me to pay for this movie. Maybe and just maybe if I ever go to China I'll buy the DVD for 5 cents USD$

I wish I've see pale ass of Mr.Thewlis in this flick.
I listen that screenplay is hilarious, and Cronenberg dig it first.
Can't wait.
