This review is a joke! He criticizes the Batmobile and Scarecrow's mask.
He says "we" (the audience) don't want realism in comic book movies. "We" want "impossible thrills", but then he criticizes the Batmobile running over cop cars. So, what does he want?? Realism or thrills??
Your an idiot, the sad part is someone thinks your a top critic. I just wish I knew what dick you sucked to be a critic, because shit I could sit around writing shitty reviews and bashing good movies.
Six years after this review and Ken Tucker couldn't have been more wrong. We're now staring down the barrel of 'The Dark Knight Rises', and one of the biggest superhero movie franchises in history, not to mention one of the biggest movie franchises in general.
I think a failed comment like "A Nonstarter" should result in a ban of making future reviews in a public forum.
This is such a bad review, with zero substance. This schmuck just wanted to hate the movie, and represents the worst kind of reviewers out there. Batman Begins is one of the top 5 comic hero movies of all time. Ken Tucker, and I say this with all due respect ... you are a loser.
read your review. i agree, holmes was weirdly reserved, but the butler turning in the only real performance? for me, it's not just about what's on the screen, as a filmmaker myself, i know i'm not doing a good job, if you can tell the hard work i put into it. it just washes over you sublimely, a state of real suspension of disbelief. then i'm doing my job. by the way, the tumbler is a lot more realistic than some flaming phallic symbol. i'm pretty sure tumblers are real come to think of it. everything in the movie is probably real, weaponized hallucinogens, the electric fabric, uhm, titanium alloy double ended bat-knives, burlap bags with holes cut for eyes, bulletproof armor, billions of dollars, parents getting killed, revenge, anger, all pretty real to me, but you're a top critic, so i'm changing my opinion asap.

That doesn't even make sense. Shut up.
