The actor's voices may suit animated television characters, but on a large screen Kevin Conroy's Batman, Mark Hamill's Joker, and Dana Delany's Andrea sound flat and one-dimensional.

Reviews for Batman - Mask of the Phantasm
Sadly, it seems more care was taken with the jazzy ad campaign than with the movie itself.
While the script and pedigree of actors are commendable, the craft level is too close to the small-screen offering to get audiences into theaters.
This absorbing adventure should resonate with those who take the notion of heroism seriously -- especially adolescent boys.
Closer to the original comics than anything Joel Schumacher or even Tim Burton can throw at us.
What the live action Batman films should be and could be if the Warner Brother execs could pull their heads out long enough to realize it. Frankly, the live action Bat-films are embarassing compared to this and the other animated films.
managed to soar above the theatrical Batman adaptation, and would remain the best Bat Movie to hit the big screens until Batman Begins shook things up in 2005
Respects the character...and winningly combines personal drama and clever themes with intrigue and action to tell a story in keeping with Batman's classic comic adventures.
Closer to radio drama than kiddie fare, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm is the strangest PG film of the year.
It has style to spare. And for any kid at heart whose breath catches at the sight of a caped figure swooping across the sky, it has moments when your lungs will be stopped by a Dark Knight to dream on.
