All I can say is there's plenty of difficult people in Hollywood. We just aren't usually exposed to it. I think this film will speak for itself and the future of all involved.

Even so flawed, it is remarkably engaging.

For most of its length it coasts by with above-average charm and a solid grasp of messy adolescent emotions.

Not especially original of concept or execution, but it's a pleasant enough script and very well acted by both youngsters LaBeouf and Henson and veterans Quinlan, Sadler and Smart.

Perfectly enjoyable without being remarkable, a solid endeavor by a first-time writer and rookie directing team.

It's too much going on, but I think that as was the case with Stolen Summer, the actors rise above the material and make it worth seeing.

Though slight and rather frail, it's still modestly entertaining...and LaBeouf is well worth watching throughout.

It's a nice little movie, amateurish in some expected first-time-filmmaker ways but usually competent and never a disaster.

LaBeouf shines when it counts, and his quirky appeal, as he tries to get the girl (Amy Smart), makes him worth rooting for.

LaBeouf somehow manages to turn Kelly's self-centered behavior and irritating character quirks into a sympathetic lead, and the well-written script by newcomer Erica Beeney brings a lot of humor to some very touching moments.
