Travolta, it seems, had wanted to star in a film of Battlefield Earth since first reading the novel in 1982. Only the all-seeing L Ron knows why.

actualy you might try reading the book before making a comment about it.
the book is in my opinion the only l. ron hubbard book I like.this movie is something you would expect to come out of syfy channel rather than a feature film. the director said he failed with it because of scientology trying to influence the film instead of letting the director go through with what he planned. this and waterworld got alot of gang banging bad critical press even before they came out (waterworld's sets sunk twice in a typhoon).
This is something you'd expect from tv, not for a 200 billion dollar budget movie wich is why it deserves a D lol.
personaly i like it better than the original mad max or beyond thunderdome. at least it has special effects.
