Big loud stupid dopey shameless cliched overbearing and did I mention stupid?
but yet you liked it?

Best review ever. Did I mention best?

Love Roeper's reviews. The only way I am paying to see this "movie" is if Liam Neeson says "You sank my battleship!"
May 21 - 10:39 AM
I was hoping he would say that as well. He didn't. I had such low expectations for this film and it still let me down.

This is a stupid concept but at least a cohesive story. Roeper called Prometheus BRILLIANT and it doesn't even answer a single question it raises in the movie but the concept was brilliant. So maybe Roeper doesn't actually watch the movies just reads the cliff notes.
Jun 11 - 02:54 PM
You're absolutely right: In Prometheus all the character's actions, and especially their behaviour makes absolutely no sense, and their behaviour is never explained, sometimes to an absurd degree: A woman walks in naked and all bloody, and nobody acts surprised or even asks her what happened?!
By contrast, everything in Battleship makes more or less sense, is perfectly explained if a bit strained, and the limitation of the action to a few ships and a few Aliens ships is plausible and actually an intelligent way of keeping the action sequences clear and the goals reasonable. Even the most strained aspect of the film, the use of the title's floating museum warship to continue the fighting, is actually based on facts: These ships are really kept on active reserve, and could actually be brought back in action, if maybe not in a day...
Just that tells you what to think of the knowledge of those who think this is just like a Michael Bay film: It isn't...
And they do say "Oh no you won't sink this Battleship", which is a lot more fun than the other way around...
Jun 12 - 06:49 PM
What's with you and thinking how realistic the character's actions are is the total trump basis for whether or not a movie is good? Battleship may well have the more realistically told story, but then my actions concerning choosing breakfast this morning is more realistic than it all. Doesn't mean it'd make a better movie.
Jun 17 - 01:59 AM
My gosh, will people shut the hell up about critics who disliked the movie. Your one excuse is, "What were you expecting?" And, "It's cause you don't like fun movies." Well, you should never expect anything from any movie because you'll try to like it and critics like fun movies, just look at every recent Josh Whedon flick (The Cabin in the Woods and The Avengers). They both have really great scores and their aim is, "Fun," but they execute it correctly.
May 21 - 02:34 PM
I'd agree with that statement. It also seems most VIEWERS of the movie weren't happy with it, as it has a low audience score on this site, and cinemascore gave it a "B" (B+ is average). It's also bombing, so I think it's safe to say this film isn't popular and probably won't be remembered next year.
May 22 - 03:08 AM
Does that mean popularity is everything you need to know about the quality of a popcorn movie?
Jun 12 - 06:52 PM
Oh god, not YOU again!
Sep 17 - 06:47 PM
I watched it online.
Don't waste your money seeing it.

No, but you might want to add comma's in between your adjectives to come over less dopey.
May 24 - 09:43 AM
Comma's? Comma's what? I didn't know commas could possess something. Also, I think you meant 'come off'.
May 28 - 04:14 PM
you'd have to be an idiot to even go watch this. If you cant tell its a terrible film by the title alone you should just give up life.
May 31 - 11:52 AM
The title alone.... Right... That kind of says everything we need to know about you as well...
Jun 12 - 06:53 PM
I won't watch this movie, but that's because of other critical reviews. You gave The Lord of the Rings a negative review, which means that your opinion is irrelevant. You are not even qualified to say that this movie sucks.
Jun 2 - 04:42 PM
While I personally think Battleship stank the only thing I can comment on Critics is that Star Wars got bad reviews wnen it came out in 1977...nuff said
Jun 4 - 11:29 AM
Are you actually comparing Battleship to Star Wars?

^ dis is the audience fr the muvie
Aug 28 - 10:14 PM
It's funny because I summed up my short review with: "did I mention stupid"? This is why I will name my son Richard. No, just joking... it will be Joshua.
Sep 1 - 04:12 PM
Stupid, that's the most fitting word. I watched this on a flight recently and it is probably the worst movie I've ever seen. I'm so upset that I even watched it - it was utterly terrible; the dialogue was ridiculous, the acting horrid, and the special effects did nothing to levy this terrible movie. It was so typical; "....oh my, oh no, there's no way in the world we can fight these aliens, it's impossible....!!!" In typical fashion "blockbuster" fashion, the good guys won and the movie suddenly ended. The best part was when it was over. I can't believe how awful this movie is - woefully terrible.
Oct 1 - 05:18 PM
Yes Roeper, your starting to on my nerves...
