Though it only ran for one season, the vintage 1966 television series THE BEAT featured an unbelievable array of live performances by the preeminent soul and R&B artists of its day. Collecting episodes 22-26, this volume features a momentous lineup that includes Memphis bandleader Willie Mitchell performing with his fellow Hi Records stars Don Bryant, Big Lucky Carter, and Teenie Hughes; and a phenomenal selection of Stax legends that includes Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Percy Sledge, the Ovations, and the Bar-Kays.
