Film Threat

Even if "Beer Wars" works best as a brief introduction to craft beers, and inspires audiences to explore craft breweries in their area and beyond, then the film works.

A smart look at craft breweries trying to stay afloat against the stout-iest suds corps in the world. A film that just might be good for whatever 'ales' you.

Beer Wars is Michael Moore lite - less filling and not as tasty as Moore's best documentaries.

Audience Reviews for Beer Wars

Too cheeky for its own good, this is still a fascinating look at the off-balanced beer industry by a former president of Mike's Hard Lemonade.

Filled with likable folks and unlikable villains this is a good watch. It's a fast paced documentary about the beer industry and the fight of the smaller brews to just make a living doing what they love.
Well made and informative.
This made me dislike the crappy watered down beers even more and I hope that someday we will be able to have a much larger and varied selection of beer out there for all.

This doc surprised me. It was fairly well put together and picked a few good subjects to follow with the Dogfish guy, the Sam Adams/Moonshot lady and others. The filmmaker has a bit too much Michael Moore-itis with being in front of the camera too much and interjecting, but she actually was part of the industry, so in a way, it is excused a bit.

Much of it was fairly common knowledge and it does really take the underdog position, which is justified. But it presents it all pretty well. It is well edited to keep it all interesting and I did learn a few things like all the different packages meaning that much more shelf space and how Bud surreptitiously did that Green Valley brewery thing. It's a fun watch for anyone that likes beer.
