A recently paroled prisoner attempts to pick up where he last left off by landing a job at a Los Angeles warehouse and taking care of the pregnant girlfriend he once left behind in director Ben Rodkin's melancholy character study. But while the ageing warehouse foreman (Seymour Cassel) is sympathetic to the young ex-con's plight, things seem to take a turn for the worse when the girl he intended to marry is nowhere to be found. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

The film tends to dawdle where it could be penetrating, and the telltale sign is an open ending -- after a quirkily staged climax -- that feels more vapid than fascinating.
Our anti-hero fails to be interesting in his unpleasantness, and his universe fails to inspire any sense of drama.
