Any goodwill it boasts is terminally suppressed, buried beneath a layer of bulls--- as thick as blubber.
Once again Slant Magazine makes the world a little bit more cynical. Not terribly surprised someone from slant was unable to appreciate a whimsical feel good movie.

He seriously rated a feel good movie about whales that's carrying a 70% fresh rating with other critics lower than Twilight and One For The Money. It must suck to be that dead inside.

I assure you I'm quite alive inside, and I'm frankly surprised the film has netted so much decent ink. I personally found the whole thing to be one big puffy joke, constantly knocking out its fact-based warmth with one-dimensional people and kitschy comedy for half-wits. I know we need to have flicks for the whole family, and I'll gladly smile and sob with the best of them, but there are countless better options than this. Anyway, thanks for keeping an eye out, bigbrother.
