"Big Miracle" might be subtitled, "How Hollywood Turned a Real Story Into Bogus Fiction."
Yes, because every movie based on a true story must be 100% true, and be shown exactly the way it happened, or else it's a horrible movie.

To Defying Gravity: The idea that Ronald Reagan acquiesced to a Greenpeace nut-job is ridiculous. And I used to be a member of Greenpeace shortly after the incident.

If the story isn't factually true or you find fault with the facts, then, please enlighten us as to the reality of what did take place; otherwise it's just you making it up the very claim you make against the movie.
That's all I ask as a reader.

Though I have to admit, this review does not give enough details to prove it's point, I do agree with it. Here's the problem, the book it's based on, supposedly, actually lampooned the whole effort and showed it for what it really was - a blatant waste of money. Millions of dollars were wasted on saving these three whales. Well, guess what? Dozens of whales die almost every year from being trapped in ice! (Depending on how fast the ice sets in each year). Last year, hundreds died. And though no one can say for sure what happened to these whales - but in all likelihood they didn't survive afterwards. One, because they were severely weakened from being trapped and probably wouldn't survive anyway... they may have been attacked and eaten by killer whales... but two, this was shortly before the Exxon Valdez crashed, pumping millions of gallons of oil into the same sea they were probably still swimming in. In fact, the only reason there was a rescue was for PR for both countries. Some of this is hinted at in the movie, but the whole feel of the movie doesn't match reality. So, sorry, folks... the real story is not so heartwarming as this movie...

Dude, you are a full-fledge cockeyed moron. I love how you make your opinion sound factual or like you actually know what you are talking about in which anyone with any sense can tell you don't have a clue (it shows greatly) when truthfully you are full of s***. Seriously dude, just STFU!

This movie isn't about saving a bunch of whales. It's about showing how shamelessly compassionate the modern world can really be if you can get it to pay attention. It's a non-cynical movie with an optimistic message, and that's why I love it.
