It would've been nice to get to know a few of the men we're meant to care about.

Because a film doesn't work if its characters have no depth.

we see enough of each main character to understand basically how they work. besides i dont see if character developement is the main point. it shows people the struggle these men went through and the frantic fear these men had to experience without warning. i do agree character developement was short but it gave us enough to care.

That wasn't the point behind Black Hawk down, we followed the men as one family, they were brothers in arms, one unit, this movie wasn't about getting to know individuals but the unit and men as a whole like they would want to be remembered by. Thhats why they died, to save and protect each other, they're one whole, not individuals. And if you didn't care for them in the movie because of a lack of character development you don't deserve the rights and freedoms they died for. How dare you give this movie a bad review, I'm sure the wives of the men that died would apprecite your comment.

Someone who is a soldier, or even knows a few soldiers, probably understands this movie a little better than this critic does.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of this movie either, and I think it's because the Battle of Mogadishu seemed ultimately pointless since Mohamed Farrah Aidid got killed later by a rival faction anyway.

Also, what does giving this movie a bad review have to do with the event itself or anyone involved with it? It's a comment on the direction of the movie. To me, the director succeeded at giving the movie a greatly chaotic tone (which makes sense), but that same tone came to overshadow the soldiers' purpose.

I agree character development wasnt the point of the movie, but they shouldn´t have shown the moroccan to be the sadistic "beasts" as they did in the movie. besides, they risk almost everything to retrieve a body, but dont hesitate in leaving some soldiers behind cause they didnt have space in the transport???

18 words... is that your entire review? Why bother even typing anything? It would be nice to know a little about the movie you are typing about.
