Where is the suspense? Where is the involvement? Where is the identification?
What? It's right there... you didn't see it, did you?

Wow, just straight up wow. What an angry, jaded, boarderline misogynistic old man. I gutted my way through your jaw dropping review (though I have to admit I started just skimming when you meandered onto other movies.) I could put in the time to confirm if you hate all horror movies which do not have "happy" endings, but I choose to assume you infact do. If that is in fact true, perhaps the genre is just outside the realm of your critical abilities. You're lack of knowledge on mundane subjects such as backpacking would normally not be an issue--if you didn't decide to attack the movie for such things. Perhaps you've never been outside large metropolitan areas. That would be the only reason I can think of, that would wall you off from the mounting tension put forth in this excellent movie. I myself am "struck" by your jilted feelings about a female character in a horror movie NOT being a sex object. I could pick at this review forever...in summary, you sir, have failed.

Where's the suspense?
just watch the last 10 minutes and you will find it you tool
Nov 25 - 11:18 PM
I concur, the suspense was weak. I couldn't identify with any of the characters and there was no little to no character development.
Dec 4 - 05:10 AM
ya this movie was suspensful... If your 10 years old! Boring Gay and i could make a movie just as scary with my own camera. If your gonna try and scare me with some bogus hocus pocus BS than spend millions nothing worse than a dumb movie cheaply made if you were scared than your a moron who will believe anything.. I almost puked watching this dumb *** movie.
Dec 29 - 10:09 AM
Why don't you then? I would love to see you attempt it.

Homophobia sucks dude.

I know they were on a limited budget and wanted to have a fresh feel, but couldn't they have sat down and written out some dialogue beforehand? The fact that its all improvised didn't surprise me one bit after I found that out. This movie has some of the least interesting, most repetitive, and awful dialogue I've witnessed.
May 16 - 02:05 AM
i agree with this
Jul 4 - 04:07 PM
It's over there.
Nov 1 - 06:14 PM
What is over there? And where is there?
Dec 6 - 09:05 PM
There is here, but we need to find there, so we can get out of here...to go there...LOL
Aug 16 - 03:04 PM
Only imaginative audiences can identify the suspense. Otherwise, you're probably wondering what's going on.Gladly, I'm on the imaginative side.

up your old ass.

I think that the lack of suspense was slightly intentional. The basis for the movie is just a video-diary documenting the frustration and confusion of three young adults lost in the woods, only with the legend of the Blair Witch locked down in the back of their minds. That's all their is to it in my opinion. Nevertheless, I do love this movie.

Horrible review. As the reviewer states:"I must confess that from the age of 5 I cannot remember ever wanting to be scared by a movie."so Mr. Sarris reviewing this movie is like Satan reviewing a man's good deeds. But honestly, if someone has the cluelessness to ask "where is the suspense" after supposedly watching this movie, they're probably not fit to review cinema. As another commenter wrote ... "just wow!" Mr Sarris, did you REALLY watch this movie?!?
Feb 27 - 06:49 PM
The whole movie.
Mar 1 - 04:56 PM
lolwtf @ people defending this movie. Are you people trolling? This movie is a pile of shit! This is the first time ive seen someone saying anything good about this movie. And WTF @ 84%...
Jun 7 - 06:02 AM
I disagree, but only to a certain extent. I loved this movie all the way until the end. And I mean the end.
The entire movie was building up to us seeing something. The only thing that we see is a guy standing in a corner. Okay, so we know the Blair Witch exists because of that shot. So now we want to see more... but we don't. I feel like they told us enough that we can't use our imagination, but they told us little enough where it's unsatisying at the end.
Jul 26 - 01:05 PM
I guess you missed the beginning of the movie. During the interviews, someone had said the murderer would bring two children into a room at a time and murder one of them while the other was standing facing the corner. This makes the last scene the creepiest of all. The point of the movie is not to show you what's out there, but to use your imagination which in the end is more scary.

Loosing your direction, loosing your mind, loosing your friends, loosing your life....
Aug 16 - 03:08 PM
Wow, you managed to misspell "losing" 4 times in a row.

it was way too hyped up for me so i found it a little disapointing but overall it was still pretty creepy.
Oct 24 - 03:44 PM
someone who doesn't even like scary movies has no business slamming this movie, because he doesn't get it. Only someone with no imagination would not be creeped out by this movie.
