Someone’s got Terry McCaleb’s number. A veteran FBI profiler, McCaleb (CLINT EASTWOOD) is unrelenting in his pursuit of justice and unequalled in his success at tracking and catching murderers.
But as he closes in on his latest adversary – a psychopath dubbed “The Code Killer” by the media – McCaleb is felled by a massive heart attack and forced into early retirement.
Two years later, a beautiful stranger (WANDA De JESÚS) reveals a secret that compels McCaleb to re-examine his recovery: his life was saved by someone else’s death – the victim of a murder that remains unsolved.
Against the advice of his cardiologist (ANJELICA HUSTON) and with the help of an eager neighbor (JEFF DANIELS), McCaleb literally puts his life on the line to track down a murderer who has forced him to take this case personally.
He’s a heartbeat away from catching the killer.

Reviews for Blood Work
The performances, along with Eastwood’s intent focus on characterization, make Blood Work a commendable drama even when the detective story flounders.
It can be argued, I suppose, that Blood Work was designed from the outset not so much as a whodunit as a why-and-how-dunit, and here the film becomes metaphysically ingenious.
It was too long, the dialogue was shoddy, the plotline predictable, the characters lame.
It's one of the better cops-and-killers melodramas to hit theaters this year.
From the moment the credits start to roll with his trademark cool jazz soundtrack, you know that you're at least going to see the work of a filmmaker true to his own beliefs.
While we may doubt his physical capabilities, 72-year-old Clint Eastwood can still deliver as an action hero.
Eastwood's detached competence as a filmmaker makes for a slick but frigid movie experience.
The film is moody, oozing, chilling and heart-warming all at once...a twisting, unpredictable, cat-and-mouse thriller.
We have an actor who is great fun to watch performing in a film that is only mildly diverting.
As a showcase for Clint Eastwood to take himself down a few notches and play a redemptive patched-up soul tackling his demons, it's a fun observation to witness. But as an overall effective thriller, this BLOOD should be much thicker than water.
If the detective-story aspect of Blood Work fails to thoroughly captivate, the movie is nevertheless enjoyable for its constant stream of lively characters and the delight in watching a man with a bad ticker but a good head go through his paces.
Even as it ends in a flurry of absurd plot twists, Blood Work holds you in a vise.
'Blood Work' is like a tattered beach read that's been given the NY Times best seller treatment.
72 year-old Eastwood delivers the goods, albeit at a more deliberate pace, adding a touch of vulnerability to his trademark tough guy persona.
