Big Stan -- N/A

When the phrases "Rob Schneider's directorial debut," "David Carradine as martial arts mentor," and "prison comedy" are bandied about in the same sentence, is there any question that a direct-to-video film is a must-see? Such is the case of Big Stan, a prison comedy featuring David Carradine as a martial arts mentor that also happens to be Rob Schneider's directorial debut. Schneider also stars (a double treat!) as Stan, a two-bit criminal who prepares for prison by learning from a martial arts master, only to find himself the big dog behind bars, torn between breaking out and leading his fellow inmates against an evil warden. M. Emmet Walsh, Randy Couture, and G4's Olivia Munn also star in this direct-to-video pick of the week!

Next: Anne Hathaway's throwaway thriller, Passengers

I am going to get Black Freighter and Bolt tomorrow from netflix, I hear Bolt is a lot better then it looks. I somehow do not own 400 Blows, so I will try to pick it up some where down the line- also since Criterion dvds are generally so damn expensive, how much will there Blu Rays cost? Quantum, I will probably not watch again, not a bad movie, its actually enjoyable I think. But I just don't see a reason why I should watch it again. Also cool DVD news is that Benjamin Button is going Criterion, which is pretty interesting- I am sure it will give the Benjamin Button haters more reason to complain. I love Benjamin Button, I don't think its a perfect masterpiece, but I can see why some would call it that. But I definitely don't get why people can't enjoy it.
Slumdog Millionaire comes out next week, which I will pick up. Other then that, nothing for me until The Wrestler... oh and Doubt.

I have to pick up Tales of The Black Freighter tomorrow. Ive been looking forward to that for a while, and will definitely satisfy my craving for the directors cut for the time being. Does anyone know exactly how much longer the directors cut will be? I have heard a few different numbers and I'm not sure what the accurate number is.

Surprisingly, Bolt is an excellent film. And dare I say Miley is an asset, her voice is engaging in animation.

I'd rent "QOS". Haven't seen it yet, but I'm setting the bar really low. I'd say "Casino Royale" was one of the best films of 2006, so "QOS" really can't live up to expectations. I'd rent "Bolt" and "Black Freighter".

I'll buy Bolt. It was actually quite good. I am not sure whether to rent Black Freighter, or just buy it right away. I will want to get Quantum of Solace eventually, but to save money I think it can wait. I may just look for some older films that are on sale. I think I saw that Best Buy has Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Running Scared on sale, so I may get those. I'll probably try to rent a few of the other movies on the list.

juggernautives, i think running scared is one of the most under rated films ever, good to hear that somebody else likes it or has even seen it, without me telling them to. Qos was pretty good, i'm gonna buy it because i'm sure the blu ray will at least look awesome.

I think I'm going to pick up Quantum of Solace this week and rent Black Freighter. I'm going to buy the ultimate edition of Watchmen Zack Snyder was talking about so I'll wait til then to own it. Bolt is actually a really good movie but i don't think i need to own it right now.

I don't really see the point in buying Black Freighter, since it will be included in its entirety on the director's cut of Watchmen anyway, right? Maybe I'm wrong about that, but that was my understanding. As a standalone feature I don't really see the appeal, I think releasing it separately is just a money grab.

I agree, Mike. I too enjoy reading Jokerboy and everyone else's opinions about the new releases each week (although I'm not sure why).

Methinks Silly Sausage doesn't give a $h!t, because he can't give a $h!t, because he has other things up his butt, like that which he based his user name from.

In fact, it appears that he had some "Silly Sausage" in his butt when he took that picture!

Care to confirm, SS?

Can't believe nobody's mentioned picking up the Fast and Furious trilogy or Rob Schneider's directorial debut!?... Wow I can't even type that with a straight face.
Had planned on picking up the Black Freighter but if it's going to be on the Watchmen extended director's release I might not. Anyone have any information on that?
Will buy QOS just for the fact of owning the next Bond film.
And The Cake Eaters looks intriguing as a rent.

My brother getting Quantum, so I'll borrow it for him. I'm quite broke these days, so I'm waiting for used version of Australia, Milk and Slumdog to come out at my video rental store. But I'll rent Bolt, that's for sure. After all the positive review I heard about it...

Yeah Running Scared is frickking awesome. Its a great pulpy B movie thats really over stylized. Plus that movie also showed Paul Walker can act. I am definitely going to get that when it hits Blu Ray.
Also thanks to people who stuck up for me and my comment! Your my HEROS! Not really but thanks.

I'm going to have to agree with Silly Sausage. Jokerboy gives long winded and unneccessary comments to almost every article posted on Rottentomatoes. I read the site a lot and rarely post but I find it utterly annoying to see another jokerboy comment. As usual he was first on the post.

1991? So I'm going to assume that your either 17 or 18? Get a life, seriously for the love of god, no one cares about your opinions. Your a teenager, have fun, not sitting on a movie sit at all hour of the day. While other users post interesting comments, most of yours are just plain asine. Just shut up.

It's a movie website for movie fans to discuss movies. Grow up and look up the definition of a hobby. It might surprise you that for the apparently more-intelligent, it doesn't actually require that much effort to think of/type out one paragraph of analysis on a topic.

Takes me about 2 minutes to write a response to a Star Trek article that I get similarly ridiculed with 'have you ever kissed a girl?'. If my girlfriend wanted to over-analyze DVD releases, Star Trek, and movies in general, then I'd gladly do so with her. But she doesn't, so I must entertain her in other ways... and be a dork here, which is more productive than trolling.
