Just when you thought that Hollywood has run dry on ideas, something like this movie springs along and gives you hope!

"Bowfinger" is about a wannabe director, Bobby Bowfinger, who wants to play with the big boys in Hollywood. When he receives a script from his accountant pal, he knew this is the movie that's going to get him into the club. The trouble is, he has no money, no crew, and worst yet, no big star to legitimize his movie. What ensues is one of the most brilliant piece of comedy to hit the screen in a while.

The best part about the movie is that there are no cheap laughs involving toilet humor or bodily fluids. The materials in "Bowfinger" are mostly original, and they give the movie a feel that there is some creativity involved in the script creation. The characters are stereotypical, but they work within the context of this movie.

The basis of the laughs stem from the surprising depths that Bobby Bowfinger will sink to in order to finish his movie. He lies, cheats, and steals to get what he wants, even from his own people. The best part of the movie has to be how he assembles his crew - "We're going to get the best crew we can afford." What happens after he said that caught me by surprise, and I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard. As an on-going joke, we get to see how Heather Graham's character moves herself up into the film world.

When it is all said and done, "Bowfinger" is one of those movies you have to see. Just when you thought that Hollywood has run dry on ideas, something like this movie springs along and gives you hope. It is well worth the price of admission.
