Critic Review - Chicago Reader

For what it is, it ain't bad, though it serves mainly as an illustration of the ancient quandary of revisionist moviemakers: if all you do is systematically invert cliches, you simply end up creating new ones.

Wow, first Shane and now another TOTAL classic that won the best picture Oscar. You really are insane. Who pays you for your opinion, I really am curious. Thanks for any info.

It's completely amazing how many >90% movies he gave a rotten tomato. Every time I see a classic with a 95-98%-score I can almost be certain to see Daves face next to a green blob.

I bet he's at least in the top 3 list of critics who gave the most negative reviews to movies everybody else liked, along with Armond.

Out of the 611 films he rated as rotten, 125 of them had a T-meter rating of 85% or higher. Many of them were rated 90% or more. I can only assume this guy is a moron.

Yet again you prove your ineptitude. It is almost comical.

It%u2019s undoubtedly one of the best movies ever made. I think his giving negative reviews to such classics is just a pathetic attempt to stand out among other critics.

man this guy is a really consistently terrible film reviewer. I can't count the number of times I've seen a green tomato from him on a 90%+ film, it's crazy.

So you can't really win with this reviewer: either the film is "cliche" or "reverse cliche" (whatever the hell that means...) I imagine the middle is a very narrow road, indeed.
