For all that Bridge to Terabithia does to encourage children to exercise their imaginations and pursue the arts, the movie's producers give only glimpses of the wonderful creatures and magical kingdom dreamed up by two children.
...which is because the book is not ABOUT the fantasy worlds.

What a simple minded twit, the story isn't about special effects

You've obviously never read the book...the author doesn't focus on their magical kingdom..the story is mainly about the children's personal struggles

The line quoted misses the point of the movie, and the rest of the review is essentially a plot summary.

Read the review, I am pretty sure Ms. Walker missed the point.

Why only 2 children? Its because they represent VERY few who really grasp the wonder and limitless of creativity

I'm surprised she knows it's based on a book at all. She's obviously missed the point of the story.

Basically you have downed this film because it wasn't another Narnia-like SFX eye-candy toss out. You get paid for this? WOW.

What an ignoramus. Special effects are there to enhance a movie, not to be the core story...

Correct it encourages children to exercise their imagination by actually leaving something up to the imagination.. something apparently you left home.

Better for me to imagine for myself the world they create than see someone elses conception in sfx - or, as AntiCrosswalk said...

You guys are reading with hate. I really liked this review. This review is true about a lot of Disney movies! They play it way to safe. The movie was great! Don't get me wrong I absolutely loved it. I just wish the hugs and things people do whom really care for each other do, it needed more passion. I didn't really fell like Josh Hutcherson (Jess Aarons)played his character all to well and they appeared as "Just Friends" in the movie. AnnaSophia Robb (Leslie Burke)on the other hand was amazing. She saved this movie and acted very professionally compared to her Horror Thriller which was HORRIBLE!!! All in all it was a very heartwarming and heartrending movie. This review was spot on.

...and the same could be said about Pan's Labyrinth, and that movie was brilliant. I'd consider Bridge to Terabithia one of the better children's movies of the last 5 years.
