From the guys who brought you SUPER TROOPERS...Broken Lizard is back, surrounded by limber, wanton women on a booze-soaked island resort owned by Coconut Pete (Bill Paxton), a rock star has-been. But the non-stop party takes a turn for the weird when dead bodies start turning up faster than you could drink a rum punch. Everyone begins to look suspicious. Could it be Sam (Erik Stolhanske) of the Fun Police brigade, who is quick on the trigger with his tequila loaded super-soaker; Jenny (Brittany Daniel), the over-sexed, fitness instructor; Juan (Steve Lemme), the flamboyant diving instructor with a secret third-world past; Putman (Jay Chandrasekhar), the bratty-British tennis coach/fanatic; Dave (Paul Soter), the ecstasy-crazed, adopted nephew of Coconut Pete; or the burly masseuse (Kevin Heffernan) blessed with a creepy ‘touch’ that can render anyone into instant Jell-O? Can the inhabitants of Pleasure Island unite, solve the mystery and restore happy hour to this tropical bacchanal? BROKEN LIZARD’S CLUB DREAD was written by Broken Lizard and directed by the group’s Jay Chandrasekhar, who also directed SUPER TROOPERS, which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Their first film PUDDLE CRUISER, also directed by Chandrasekhar, was screened at several film festivals including Sundance, IFFM, SXSW, the London and Berlin International Film Festivals, and was named winner of the Hamptons International Film Festival’s Grand Prize for Best Film. Broken Lizard has collectively written and performed together for the past 10 years, creating stage, film and television material. BROKEN LIZARD’S CLUB DREAD also features Brittany Daniel ("Sweet Valley High," JOE DIRT), M.C. Gainey (HAPPY TEXAS, THE NEW GUY), Jordan Ladd (NEVER BEEN KISSED), Tanja Reichert ("Relic Hunter"), Samm Levine ("Freaks and Geeks") and Lindsey Price ("Beverly Hills 90210"). Paxton most recently made his feature film directorial debut with FRALITY, in which he starred with Matthew McConaughey. He has appeared in some of the U.S.’ biggest box office hits including TITANIC, TWISTER and APOLLO 13. Paxton has also won critical acclaim with independent films like ONE FALSE MOVE, TRAVELLER and A SIMPLE PLAN. -- © Fox Searchlight [More]

Reviews for Broken Lizard's Club Dread
The jokes start wearing thin after the first hour and, by the time the credits finally roll, it's become the kind of straightforward gorefest it started out ridiculing.
There’s a problem with spoofs of crappy horror comedy flicks: in order to get to the spoof comedy, the audience still has to wade through the crappy horror flick.
Broken Lizard may not yet be Monty Python, but Club Dread is funnier than Super Troopers, and another comedy from the troupe will be a welcome sight.
A few gags are brilliantly staged, but most have a smug, collegiate take-it-or- leave-it quality that makes full-on belly laughter feel optional.
Basically just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill slasher flick, with the usual amount of fleeting T&A tossed in to mollify the Playboy perusers in the audience.
Talk about being the last guy at the buffet table! (Is a genre even viable anymore if it has more parodies than straight entries?)
A bumptious splatter farce that manages to improve from awful to moderately engaging as its cast is winnowed down to the five guys themselves.
Is it a comedy? Or are they really trying to make a go at a horror film? Funny enough, it actually works as both.
Half as clever as Scream and too winking in its nihilism to approach the invigorating immorality of Scream 2
One of the better horror parodies, which if you ask me has been done to death.
With Club Dread the Broken Lizards are too busy enjoying themselves to be concerned with whether or not we are enjoying ourselves. Which we aren't.
The film's creators use sexual humor as a stand-in when they run out of vacuous little sub-sketches.
Here's an oddball movie that's better suited to rental than the big screen.
It's like spending the evening with a drunken, stoned bore who thinks he's funny by shouting 'Boo!' constantly.
Maybe not worth a trip to the theatre, but probably worth a trip to the rental store if you stop by Piñacoladaberg on the way.
Like a feature-length episode of Girls Gone Wild, with dead bodies dropping with the same frequency as bikini tops.
