An honest Venezuelan drama that benefits from the heartfelt way it depicts the intense relationship between the two brothers and how much they care about each other, and it all comes to a solid ending that reflects a harsh reality where dreams get shattered by misery and violence.

Just a quick note; I worked in this production. My name's in the credits

But a movie totally worth watching because it is beautiful. I can't even write a review because Hermano has been such a great experience in my life.

"Hermano" is a greatly delivered South American social drama reminiscent of the Brazilian movie "City of God"...which, however, falls short when it comes to pulling a punch for its ending.

Great acting... Touching drama! Very proud that it's made in my other home country: Venezuela.

"Hermano" takes a lot of clichés from other sports movies. But when it's combined by a story that tries to portray the difficulty of life in a place that's no man land, with a high focus on ethical dilemmas, characters whom feel simpathy with and twists and turns that are vital. At the end you're left with the sensation that filmmakers created with this movie, something reminiscent.

A fun and captivating movie. Definitely not for kids. Loved it.

You may not grasp the depth of this movie outside of Latin America --and it does hit some sports-drama clichà (C)s-- but the poignancy of the tale should be enough to draw you in. This is the reality of the slums of Caracas --and it only scratches the surface. Beautiful movie. Plus: Eliu Armas really was a poor kid from these slums before acting in this movie.

A wonderful movie that avoid cliches turning the dramatics threads every five minutes... a different finale and an incredible audio mix and sound track...

Such a good movie, "Hermano" does what it sets out to do- it is a sports movie with brothers who are lifted up by the sport, in this case soccer. The adoption of the better and more innocent brother after they find him in the streets leads to the older brother playing protector and maybe doing some shady things to keep his family afloat. The sport and his family are the pure things that keep him grounded. Both are forced into making choices because of the environment they are living in, and soccer remains the lifeline that the audience ends up rooting for them both to grab onto and not let go.

Films like "Hermano" refurbish Latino cinema. This is something fresh and exciting, just like the sport of football.

The story is perfectly constructed. Great performances, specially from Fermando Moreno and the amateur actor Eliú Armas. Great cast, realistic settings and good direction. Definetly one of the best movies in venezuelan film making history, as well as an exceptional exhibit of the new film making school. Highly recommended.
