Brad Pitt to Remake "Bullitt"?
If he does, he better hire a good action director. The original "Bullitt" has one of the best car chases ever.
According to sources, Brad Pitt has wanted to remake Peter Yates' "Bullitt" (1968) for a while now -- and cast himself in the Steve McQueen role. Apparently the project might hit the fast track in anticipation of next year's potential SAG strike, but I wouldn't start holding my breath just yet.
The movie's about a detective who hunts down a cop-killing assassin. And yes, that car chase is still one of the best I've ever seen.
No more details are available just yet, but if Pitt makes this his next project, it'll probably start moving pretty soon.

on Jul 06 2007 10:21 AM There is NO WAY you can top the origianl carh chase. I don't care how good your CGI is or your stunt team is. The original is one of a kind. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 10:41 AM Pitt as McQueen? Lose it Brad. You do not have nearly 1/100th of the charisma McQueen had. Forget the car chase. Remember the man. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 10:50 AM NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO By the way, I remember the Shaft remake. It was pretty cool: Christian Bale and Samuel L. Jackson. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 10:57 AM In reply to this comment (#910455) Bullittt? Niiiicce! Okay, Bullitt wasn't the best movie but the concept warrants a, hopefully great, remake. I could see Pitt working out well here. Don't knock it till you've seen it. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 11:33 AM The original film was carried on Steve McQueens back and the coolness of "That chase". IF Pitt can pull this off he'll skyrocket in my estimation...still never beat Steve McQueen cause frankly no one is cooler than the cooler king. I still get goosebumps every time I watch the Magnificent Seven and the bandit leader tells McQueen they're in the same business..."We deal in lead, friend". (Reply to this) |

Well, isn't that humble of him!?! (j/k) I'm sorry, but McQueen was perfect for that movie and the car chase with the 500 flying hubcaps is a classic! It's like trying to remake any of Bogart's movies. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 12:40 PM It seems like they remade "The Getaway" which was a great McQueen film because of his amazing screen presence. Who remembers that remake today? (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 02:23 PM They are now in the process of doing a Dirty Harry remake. They are extracting the DNA from Frank Sinatra now, since he was the original choice to play Inspector Harry Callahan. I am looking forward to this one. It's due in 2010. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 06 2007 05:06 PM Brad is quite the actor but... ...I think this role belongs to Daniel Craig. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jul 07 2007 08:37 AM The movie could definitely be improved upon even though it was great. But it's been copied and imitated so much the new movie would seem boring because it's just an imitation of the original in itself. And you can't match Steve McQueen, I just don't see that happening. Also yea Daniel Craig looks a lot like him. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 07 2007 11:20 AM "...I think this role belongs to Daniel Craig." If anyone is the modern Steve McQueen, it's Craig. (Reply to this) |

on Jul 07 2007 11:55 AM In reply to this comment (#910473) I don't think McQueen would have needed a life vest for doing the James Bond promo at the London eye. Craig may have the screen persona down, but the cool thing about McQueen was he walked the walk on screen and off. That's why with the exception of maybe the Cooler King in the Great Escape you don't think of McQueen as his characters, you think of the characters as McQueen. Craig didn't do that for me in Bond.
