The really clever thing about "Burn Notice" is that it's a fairly stock private-eye show, with stock characters -- the sexy girlfriend, the unreliable sidekick who drinks, and the stud PI, even the hot car -- but with entirely new trappings: the spy background and the tool-box gizmos in every show. The main guy uses his spy skills to solve the P.I. problems. Very clever. The episodes are uneven, rating from A+ to C- for me, but it's always worth watching. I use it in teaching my after-school English classes. The episodes are about 42 minutes long, and they have complete dramatic structures. The packaging for the DVD set is slick and well-done, like the show. Of course, Miami offers a great setting: glamorous and sexy.
