Andy Garcia's directorial debut features the music of fellow Cuban Israel "Cachao" Lopez. Cachao lived most of his life in the communist country building an international reputation as composer and bass player. His specialty, Afro-Cuban dance music, eventually swept the world and created acclaim for the modest player. The resulting style became known as the mambo.
