Jeffrey Wright and Matt Dillon are Cadillac Men
Chess Records story coming to the screen.

Jeffrey Wright is getting Muddy.

ComingSoon reports that Wright has signed on to play blues giant Muddy Waters in Cadillac Man, a Sony/BMG-backed film about the classic Chess Records label. Wright will star opposite Matt Dillon, who is set to play the label's co-founder, Leonard Chess. From the article:

The period piece follows the rise and fall of Chess Records, which also launched the careers of Etta James and Chuck Berry. Chess, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, scoured the South, checking out the various blues scenes and selling records from the back of his Cadillac.

Darnell Martin will write and direct. The report doesn't mention a target release for Cadillac Man, but says filming is scheduled to start in January.

If anybody from RT reads these comments, you might want to change the art for this particular movie. Using the poster from the Robin Williams/Tim Robbins 1990 "Cadillac Man" for an article about a movie about Muddy Waters is just wrong... :-)

C'mon, people, don't make me lose my faith in you. Read the article. Of course it isn't a remake -- it just has an unfortunate title. Maybe by including the 1990 Cadillac Man's poster art here, we'll remind the studio of this, and they'll change it to something better.

jeffery wright is awesome.

but seriously, when i first looked at the headline i thought they were remaking cadillac man with jeffery wright and matt dillon. then i thought to myself, jeffery wright isnt hairy enough to play a robin williams role (look at his knuckles in that movie, he IS ManBearPig)....

Cadillac Records would be a better title for sure. Sounds pretty good though, I really like Wright and Dillon.
