A young man who works in the shipyards as a dockworker is invited to stay with a friend in Paris. He decides to make a go of it in the big city and gets a job in an auto manufacturing plant, joining the union when the workers propose a takeover of the company. More post May 68 political stuff from Marin Karmitz. It's basically just muddled propaganda. For the most part I enjoyed Karmitz's later film Coup pour Coup, so was looking forward to this, but it basically failed and bored me. I was also interested to watch Juliet Berto and Dominique Labourier pre Celine and Julie, but it turns out they are in the film for a combined time of no more than 10 minutes. However I did enjoy the political pop songs!
