I really do like Pegg's movies, he's got great timing and not near as boring as some of the other British actors that really on humor that is so dry that the audience is begging for gatorade.

I recently saw 'Run Fat Boy, Run', and while it had it's enjoyable parts, it was way too pedestrian for Pegg. He needs to keep is original comedy team close to him so he can continue his success.

Marineboy, your standards are far too high. Personally, there's not another team in film right now that I trust more with my comedy needs. Comedy's really been in the toilet lately, and there are only a few directors and actors who can actually pull through for us. Apatow seems to be hitting a rough patch with Drillbit Taylor and You Don't Mess With the Zohan, so that pretty much leaves Pegg and his pals. They've not made a ton of movies so far, but I've yet to be disappointed by any of their movies. Shaun of the Dead is one of my favorite movies ever, and Hot Fuzz is definitely one of the better comedies I've seen recently. I'm only disappointed by Hot Fuzz at all because it followed Shaun of the Dead and just wasn't quite as good. Sort of the same way Pixar gave us Cars, which was well above average but not exactly at the standards they set for themselves. I will gladly shell out money to see any movies Pegg/Wright/Frost or any combination of the three make if I can expect quality from each of their efforts, and, judging by what we've been given so far, they seem to be a pretty safe bet.

Jomo, I heard that it would be an adventure/sci-fi parody film. Those are the only 2 really interesting genres that they haven't tapped into yet with the blood and ice cream trilogy. Here's to hoping they decide to make more than just 3 films together.

so far I've only seen Pegg's Frost and Wright collaborations, and golly, I almost hope he never makes another film without them. On that note I'd love to see Pegg as Hank Pym in Wright's Ant-Man and The Avengers...

i don't know if i would say apatow has hit a dry patch. yes, drillbit was bad, but pineapple express will be coming out, and wasn't apatow involved with forgetting sarah marshall? as for the zohan, i'm reserving judgment until it comes out and i see the reviews. assuming pineapple express is good (i thought the trailer looked stupid, but people seemed to like it) and zohan stinks, apatow is still batting .500 this *year*.

what i can't figure out is why people still go to will ferrell movies, who hasn't been funny since anchorman.

i frankly don't understand the jab made by Marineboy that pegg and wright make zucker for the middle class... since i'm pretty sure the zucker brothers were making comedy for the middle class as well (was there some element of proletarian revolt to their pictures that i missed?).

i'm first, not sure how that's a criticism (should we not like the zucker brothers? i loved airplane and kentucky fried movie), and second, i'm not sure how the "middle class" part actually contributes to the critique--i think most of us recognize that the movie industry is going to greenlight films targeted at the middle class given that it is a business. so is the problem that pegg/wright are making mainstream pictures, especially shaun of the dead, which aped a genre that has its origin in DIY filmmaking and was shocking in its day? if that's the case, i'm wondering if the problem is simply that they work in the mainstream?

since i am middle class and have no interest in subverting the bourgeoisie, i am not concerned about pegg/wright's decision to target the mainstream with their films. what i saw in SOTD, as someone who loves zombie movies, was a movie that touched on the common elements of the genre in a clever way, while at the same time updating Dawn of the Dead's (the original) anti-consumerist critique by letting zombies stand in for wage slaves, thus suggesting that as economies globalize and corporations transform communities and local economies, people are transformed into sub-human producers and consumers. granted, this is not an idea that is outside the mainstream. but slamming pegg/wright for not being smart (which, i'm assuming, was the point of the zucker comparison) doesn't seem fair.
