Samantha, a former model, comes to the aid of her roommate Jack, an aspiring songwriter who's vowed to stay celibate until he achieves musical success. Samantha invites a group of arty friends from Greenwich Village to a party -- an Indian chief, a construction worker, a cowboy, a policeman, a soldier, and a couple of leather boys! Then, they all get together and stage such a wild, campy, "dance feverish" show using Jack's songs, that his career skyrockets! The popular group "Village People" stars in this rags-to-riches musical extravaganza. Big budget production with a top of the charts soundtrack. [More]

Please DO stop the music! A '70s disco holdover.

This botched affair... goes absolutely nowhere and failed to cause much of a stir with moviegoers who, by the time of its release, were jumping on the disco backlash bandwagon. Full Review |

The Village People, along with ex-Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner, have a long way to go in the acting stakes. Full Review |

It's tough to believe any movie that opens with Steve Guttenberg dancing on rollerskates could actually get worse from there, but it does -- and in such spectacular fashion! Full Review |

A wretchedly sub-standard score from Jacques Morali and production numbers of exceptional tackiness round things off. Full Review |

The unevenness of the acting comes as a kind of blessing, though, since the rest of the movie is so thoroughly homogenized. Full Review |

An absolute train wreck of a movie, but viewed as a sort of fevered dream, some hilariously campy moments!

Points for not calling it "The Village People Movie" -- but not many.
