Tom Hanks in yet another movie as a good guy in a bad situation. You can copy/paste his performances from one movie to the next.
Oct 28 - 05:05 PM
I'm sorry but isn't the most basic template for a drama movie that there is a complex character that is put in some sort of conflict. Saying that is like saying that you can copy/paste nearly every drama. Think of the acclaimed movies coming out this year:
Gravity: Good guy: Sandra Bullock, Bad Situation: alone in space
12 Years a Slave: Good Guy:slave (Sorry, name just slipped my mind), bad situation: gets tricked and sent back down to the cruel world of slavery
All Is Lost: good guy: Robert Redford, bad situation: stuck alone at sea
The list goes on and on.

This would be his...sixth nomination now? BETTER WIN!
Oct 12 - 05:04 AM
You realize he has won twice right? Just making sure cause you only mentioned him being nominated.
If he does win, which I kind of doubt, but if he does he will make history and join Daniel Day-Lewis.
Oct 12 - 11:36 AM
you do realize Jack Nicholson has won three as well?
Oct 15 - 05:17 PM
And Walter Brennan. However, Daniel-Day Lewis is the only man to win best actor (not supporting actor) three times.
Oct 16 - 05:37 AM
Well he's def getting nominated for this film. I still cant see him winning over Ejiofor or McConaughey though.
Oct 11 - 07:17 PM
Hanks will win it... Overrated? Anyone who calls him overrated is undereducated or overstupid
Oct 11 - 02:32 AM
Tom Hanks is one of the most deserving actors out there, a shame he's only won two Oscars. Captain Phillips will probably get him a nomination and Saving Mrs. Banks, less of a chance but still probably might.
Oct 8 - 01:06 PM
2 oscars is pretty damn good. I think only three actors have ever won more than that (at least for their acting anyway).
Oct 14 - 02:47 PM
Life Finds a Way
Oct 7 - 06:51 AM
Bill the Butcher
It's very possible that he gets nominated for both, but does he win? I doubt it.
Oct 4 - 03:11 PM
You You See
Hes a nice guy like the old Jimmy Stewart .
Hard to watch when everything is so hollywood scripted .
Bad guys good guys ...here comes the hero..mabey he gets a flesh wound...boring..yes the movie makes money , but not from me.
Oct 4 - 11:10 AM

Sep 27 - 01:37 PM
Marc "Cerone" Chaudry
Sep 28 - 04:44 PM
Complete and utter untruth.
Sep 30 - 02:46 PM
the term overrated is overused. mostly incorrectly
Oct 1 - 06:10 PM

''ogosh i have a gun aimed at my head darn it all ''
Oct 2 - 01:32 PM

Oct 3 - 11:21 PM

Oct 6 - 03:58 PM
Never said he wasn't funny or a good acter .
Just boring most of the time ,very pedictable same old same old thing over and over.
John Wayne style , cookie cutter ,they all FEEL the same . Should never get more then 3 or 4 stars just saying .
Oct 6 - 05:27 PM
Yeah, Forest Gump is the exact same as Woody from Toy Story........
Oct 10 - 12:02 AM
Swearing = good acting apparently.
Oct 7 - 04:48 PM
He says 'cunt' in Cloud Atlas; you obviously haven't seen enough Tom Hanks movies.
Oct 11 - 02:03 PM
The term 'overrated' is overrated.
Oct 10 - 04:17 PM
Good Looking RoHiT
Anyone who calls Tom Hanks 'overrated' should cut his dick and suck it for the rest of his life.
Oct 11 - 06:46 AM
I think it's possible, but I think it's more likely he will be nominated for one or the other but not both.
Sep 22 - 12:13 PM
I could see him getting Supporting for Saving Mr. Banks then Best Actor for this. It looks great and Hanks will no doubt do great in this, but just from the trailers it doesnt seem like the meatiest of roles. My Best Actor lineup so far is looking like...
Chiwetel Ejifor - 12 Years a Slave
Matthew McConaughey - Dallas Buyers Club
Leonardo DiCaprio - The Wolf of Wall Street
Michael B. Jordan - Fruitvale Station
Hugh Jackman - Prisoners
Joaquin Pheonix - Her
Steve Carrel - Foxcatcher
Oscar Isaac - Inside Llewyn Davis
Left Field random Pick
Chris Hemsworth - Rush
Sep 9 - 10:32 PM
Sep 9 - 10:33 PM
Good list. I think Jordan could definitely snag it. In my opinion, there's no reason that Hugh Jackman should be up there over Gyllenhaal for Prisoners. Sure at time Jackman blew me away, but Gyllenhaal dug deep for that character. and also left field random isn't "that" random. Hemsworth is definitely capable. I'll be seeing Rush today so I'll see what his chances are.
Sep 27 - 12:35 PM
I totally agree that if anyone gets nominated for anything in Prisoners, it should be Gyllenhaal, not Jackman.
Oct 11 - 05:10 PM
tom hanks is the man
Sep 8 - 09:23 AM
a MCD actor at best...did he ever pretend to have sex in a movie..haha
Oct 2 - 01:35 PM

Then Tommy Wiseau must be the best actor ever!!!
Oct 11 - 02:06 PM
