Out in the Australian outback, there exists a small town known as Paris -- a small town that just happens to have an unusually high number of automobile accidents. Apparently, these accidents are the mainstay of the local economy: a local doctor carries out bizarre experiments on the crash victims, while the brightly painted wrecked vehicles serve to decorate the countryside. Some local youths even appropriate the cars for reckless stunts. But when the town mayor orders an end to the hijinks and has one of the cars burned, the kids wreak havoc on a party designed to placate them. [More]

Reviews for The Cars That Ate Paris
As a low-budget first film, director Peter Weir could’ve done worse, but I’m thankful that his career continued in a very different direction than this film would suggest.
