Story Set for Next Bond Flick?
There's already been a good deal of conjecture and gossip thrown around regarding the NEXT James Bond movie, and here's the latest: Apparently the next 007 adventure will be based on an Ian Fleming story called "Risico" -- but that story's already been used for an earlier Bond flick!
From IGN Movies: "The follow-up to "Casino Royale" will reportedly be based on the Ian Fleming short story "Risico," which appeared in his 1960 book "For Your Eyes Only."
The problem with "Risico" is that its basic plot and characters was already used for the 1981 film version of "For Your Eyes Only." In Fleming's "Risico," 007 is sent to Italy to investigate a heroin ring and crosses paths with the likes of Colombo and Kristatos, both of whom were featured in the Roger Moore movie." Well, it's not like this is the first time film producers have had to double-dip from Fleming's back catalog. Regardless, I think that most of us would probably agree by this point that Daniel Craig was a much cooler 007 than the early naysayers were suggesting... right?

on Dec 14 2006 04:24 AM indeed I wouldn't care if they did a similar plot as one of the older oo7 movies. I have never seen any of them anyways. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 06:03 AM Im ok... with Bond remakes because they would be updated and revamped enough that they would be seperate creatures. I hate Hollywoods obsession with remakes, but I almost think it makes sense with the Bond series. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 07:45 AM To be honest I wouldn't be upset if they started over completely and did Fleming's novels chronologically and did the Smersh and Spectre storylines starting with Dr.No and From Russia With Love. (Reply to this) |

Can't/don't do it. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 08:28 AM I agree, absolutely loved Casino Royale and might even go so far as to say that Daniel Craig was THE BEST JAMES BOND. However, the Connery Bond films are classic, don't mess with them. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 08:41 AM DEAR BOND MOVIE PEOPLE Please erase every James Bond move ever made, with the exception of Goldfinger, From Russia with Love, Dr. No, Thunderball, You only Live Twice, Live and Let Die, and Licence to Kill. Then you may start over with the remaining Flemming stories, but do them as time pieces because turning cold war plots into fights with terrorists is stupid. Also, please delete any references to Jaws, BMW, hot nuclear scientists, and anything to do with Pierce Brosnan, from history. Thank you. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 14 2006 09:24 AM remake? I could see them doing the book plots over again... it would be different than "remaking" a film in this case. As the films are only adaptations of the books anyway. sure, redo the books. not the movies. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 09:33 AM Casino Royale was the first James Bond film I saw, and it kicked absolute A$$! I hope he stays on as 007 for a long time to come. They should also get those same screenwriters back for the next one as well, except tell them to make it about 5-10 minutes shorter this time (that or have the director cut a little bit out of the action scenes). Otherwise, probably the best film I've seen all year! It's up there with V For Vendetta, The Proposition, An Inconvenient Truth and Borat! (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 10:05 AM i dont see why this is a problem. the new caisno royale had a very similar plot to it's 1967 comedy counterpart of the same title (starring woody allen, and based on the same ian flemming book as the new royale), so why is it suddenly a problem that the next bond flick will share elements of a previous bond movie? ![]() on Dec 14 2006 11:32 AM Remakes? NO WAY! Think about it. Craig won't stick arount for mor than three or four Bond movies, and the Bond series will have been sacrileaged (did I use that word right?) for just a handful of remakes that really don't need to be done at all. In my opinion, the only good Bond movies are the ones completely based off of the Ian Fleming novels, but, unfortunately, there aren't going to be any more of those. What the producrs need to do is write scripts that echo Flemings style very closely, and then we'll get some great Bond adventures again. Remaking old stories is just weak, IMO. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 14 2006 12:57 PM i say do a remake trilogy with Craig Bond, then start doing original movie plots for him. and make them extreamly violent, because the violence in the Brosnan Bond was purely cheese-tastic, and Craing Bond looks like the kind of motherfucker that would just take out an entire city by hand to get the job done. on Dec 14 2006 01:06 PM The End of Bond as we know it Craig as Bond is still the worst decision the filmmakers made. The second worst would be remaking old bond films. The Bond movies have a continuity all there own, now we're going to throw that away and try and re-start a franchise that didn't need re-starting? I'm glad all you fair-weather friends are along for the ride, as they run this series into the ground. "I like the new bond because he's darker and tougher", in other words, you don't like bond, but you want to create a new character and put him in the bond films. The class, and devil may care attitude, and his ability to get out of tight situations is what distinguishes Bond from every other action hero. Now you want a Bond who is exactly like every other action hero. Remember, you are probably all the same people who heralded Pierce Brosnan as the best Bond since Connery. Now you sing the same tune for the new guy. Give me a break. (Reply to this) |
