Daniel Radcliffe as Young James Bond?
One good franchise deserves another.
by Jeff Giles | September 17, 2007
Discuss Article
We've got Young Joc and Young Jeezy on the pop charts. How about a young James Bond on the silver screen?

According to a rumor posted at JoBlo, that's what the Bond camp might have on tap -- and Daniel Radcliffe, who was supposedly up for the role a few years ago, is still under consideration. What's more, he appears to be interested.

The new films, according to the article, will be based on Charlie Higson's Young Bond books, a series that started with 2005's SilverFin and whose fourth installment, Hurricane Gold, was released this month. The stories, which take place in the 1930s, revolve around Bond's death-defying adventures at Eton College.

The filmmakers would need to make some changes if Radcliffe signed on -- for instance, Bond is only 13 when the first book begins -- but where there's a will, there's a way. And it's all just an unsubstantiated rumor, of course, but it makes a certain amount of sense -- particularly for Radcliffe, who is likely already itching to avoid being typecast as Harry Potter.

nothing against radcliffe, who's becoming a better actor with each movie (he really sucked in the first two harry potters, but the kid was like 8 at the time) but this sounds like a terrible idea.

James bond junior chases S.C.U.M. around the world!" though, i think in the show bond was supposed to be his uncle. whatever, it still worked. sorry you couldn't get down viturbo. real shame.

Ah, everyone is ungrateful. We're just ungrateful people. No matter how much we get we'll always want more, always want different, always want better.

I don't know what I think of this. But it's just a rumor so I don't have to.

As long as Q builds Young James Bond a wise-cracking, jive-talking robotic dog for a sidekick, I'm there!

OMG, please not a young James Bond movie. If Daniel Craig is still and around and they do this, I hope he walks away from the franchise.

I actually really like Daniel Radcliffe as an actor, but this does seem a bit unnecessary. They already tried this with Agent Cody Banks and Alex Rider: Stormbreaker.

well at first when i opened this i thought he was just gonna make an appearance in a Bond flick as a young James Bond which would be pretty cool...but a movie? Im not so sure....anyway Radcliffe could prob pull it off as he really showed his improving acting in Order of the Phoenix this summer...his best acting in a Potter film to date as far as intensity

Eh.....why not? They'll prolly make it a movie for kids, which I think would be great. There isn't enough kids movies out anymore.

wither, there's ungrateful as...sitting at the dinner table wanting dessert when millions are starving. a nd there's "is my character going to die yet" EVERY single time he finishes a potter movie. without that role, he's a nobody. yeah..being typecast might suck but look at the failed people in his profession, look at the struggles ALOT of those people have been through. then you whine like a b3tch everytime you get paid MILLIONS? sorry, thats takin' it to a whole nother level. i can't stand people like that

So he wants to avoid being typecast as Harry Potter... so he can be typecast as James Bond.

From what I've seen Radcliffe has always been intensely thankful having the Harry Potter role, Gimy.

I mean, you can't blame the guy for wanting to continue acting after the HP stuff is done, and being typecast is a genuine concern every actor who actually gets somewhere faces.

At least he isn't like most of these stupid young actors running around getting trashed in cracked out nightclubs thinking they're God's gift to the human race.

.. Saying all that, Young James Bond is a stupid idea for a movie.

Yeah I was thinking this would be like a flashback in Bond 22 or something, and he'd be great for that role. But a whole movie? No.

Oh wow, this sounds bad. How about a brand new idea for Mr. Radcliff? Jesus, I'm tired of this rehashing of ideas!
