This award winning debut feature film by actor/producer/writer/ director Chi Muoi Lo (The Relic) is an offbeat dramatic comedy about an African American couple (Academy Award nominee Paul Winfield & Mary Alice -Down In the Delta), who adopt two orphans, a brother and sister from a Vietnamese refugee camp. After twenty-two years, Mai, the sister (Lauren Tom – Joy Luck Club) locates their birth mother (Kieu Chinh – Joy Luck Club), who was separated from her children during the war, and brings her to America, while Dwayne, the brother (Chi Muoi Lo) has conflicting feelings concerning the new arrival.
The reunion triggers a series of events, which brings deeply submerged resentments and misconceptions to the surface, forcing the characters to reexamine their identity and relationships in both comical and poignant situations. -- © 2000 Black Hawk Entertainment
