Native Swede Lasse Hallstrom, (MY LIFE AS A DOG, THE CIDER HOUSE RULES), directs this lighthearted tale of adventure that begins as summer vacation has arrived for six small children growing up in the Swedish countryside. Lisa, Lasse, Bosse, Anna, Britta, and little Kerstin wreak their own special brand of havoc in this pre-World War II period film. The kids don't have televisions to help them pass the time, but they do, however, have their imaginations, and spend their days creating their own games and other unique forms of amusement--much to the irritation of Noisy Village's adults. Astrid Lindgren penned the screenplay, which embraces the spirit of her much loved series of children's books about the adventures of a red-haired girl called PIPPI LONGSTOCKING. [More]
