Critic Review - Chicago Reader

A very bad film -- snide, barely competent, and overdrawn -- that enjoys a perennial popularity, perhaps because its confused moral position appeals to the secret Nietzscheans within us.

Of all the critics, Mr. Kehr is the one I like the least.

He is the worse. No contest there. Search RT for all the greatest films ever made that you can think of and you'll see Dave exploiting whatever tiny weaknesses the film may have had. I bet the only films on RT that got a 100% are the one's this guy didn't see yet.

how you are a "top-critic" absolutely blows my mind. You have zero appreciation for good films, and clearly lack any artistic vision. I hope you don't get paid for writing movie reviews, because someone needs to start sending the checks in the direction of a competent human being......And you're mind numbingly retarded.

This man never likes movies... how can a person critique movies if he doesn't like movies? You go make a movie, and we'll see how much we like it.

And in your thumbnail, i thought you were a woman named dave... you are a terrible critic!

On the contrary, this movie isn't even that popular, nor very known. How can it be overrated?

Assuming you're not sarcastic, how is this movie not very popular? It has a 90% rating, and is on the American Film Institue Top 100.

In reply to The Fall of Roy: Not very popular? Yeah, that's why people list it as one of the best films of all time. Not very known? That's why when I talk about it, people know what I'm talking about.

What a surprise to see Kehr give another poorly-written negative review to a great movie. Only this time, he crosses the boundaries by saying Kubrick is "barely competent". What a joke this weirdo is.

You obviously have no taste in movies. Did you even watch Clockwork? Or better yet read the book? It's a classic piece of literature. Anthony Burgess wrote a masterpiece in his time. Something this revolutionary, and something so ahead of our time was written in the fifties. How can you say that it's bad?

People like you who can't write a positive review when it is clearly necessary take themselves far too seriously. The fact that you say this is a 'bad film' and is 'barely incompetent' merely undermines any credibility you may have had as this film is a clear masterpiece. I think you need to learn the difference between liking a film and understanding its importance. A brilliant film can influence a generation of directors and revolutionize an industry, this is clearly one of those rare cases.

Get a different job.

He must be payed to review great movies poorly, perhaps he likes more reads or hits on his website. Perhaps he really just is that simple minded.
