I remember Druids/Ewoks :)

@thereign - "-when Darth Vader was a badass, heartless, evil as hell motherfu.cker" when was that? remember, at the end, he still betrayed the emperor, and had happy bonding moments with luke. :P

"The new trilogy spoiled that, revealing Anakin to be a whiny, self-centered brat who missed his mommy and had separation issues with his girlfriend. " Interestingly the most evil people I know have very similar issues to that. Uh, take a few seconds to think abuot what most serial killers are born from.

Zahn's nove;s would be great, but lucas didn't write them. can you imagines the royalties he'd have to pay? Infact, I doubt lucas will do much after the original trilogy for that same reason. he didn'twrite it. he might have approved it, but he didn't write it. and from an ego perspective -- would you try and pour millions of dollars into producing a movie that people will remember that YOU did not write?

I like the 'main characters' as much as the next person, but I also understand what Lucas is doing. .to a degree.. about focusing on small characters. Sometiems you see a little character and say "I wish I knew more about them".. as a storyteller, sometimes you say "I know more about this character then everyone and want to show everyone else." and also by limiting things to the main characters.. you limit your abilities. even if you take the range from quigonn's birth to Luke's death, that's a very limited range and I'd bet to some degree or another, it's already been explored.

Most casual star wars fans would go "Exar who?" and go "knights of the old what?"

I am a pretty big fan of the original cartoon series. I'm pretty sure that this should be pretty cool too.

No, you're right. But Lucas is way too far into this to show any humility at this point. His whole grudge against fans of the original trilogy has corrupted him. When he dies, he will have made sure NO ONE can do anything star wars related. It will literally be the death of star wars- which isn't completely bad since he's only concerned with story after story regarded the tired clone wars.

As a huge star wars fan all my life, this somewhat worries me. But hey if Lucas is doing it, it hsould most likely be good!

Oh come one George. You keep letting your fans down, now we are going to get some Disney style G rated mutation of your own stories. You truly are a cop out youuuu...... Sorry but i was expecting real actors and sets and good Special effects but now the TV spot is going to be animated rug rat fest, You suck George Lucas you need Spielberg's help once again, and no thank you for episodes 1-3 good CGI bad everything else, casting, screen writing, must i go on. You have a gem George not screw this up more than you already have.

I hope it's as good as the 2D series.

episodes 4-6 are highly overrated. they only seem great because 97% of star wars fans hated episode 1-3. star wars isnt really sci-fi, its much more of a western, especially episode 4-6. re-watch them, and you'll realize it.

The Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network was absolutely superb. Better than any of the prequels in my opinion. However, I must admit I was hoping for a live action Star Wars series directed by someone other than George Lucas.

The style of the 2D Cartoon Network show was simplistic, but had a terrific sense of style. I can understand how some people didn't like the show because it lacked story depth, but in my opinion it didn't really need to be deep. It was still very entertaining to watch just because of the neat things they did with the animation.
However, this movie/series doesn't interest me at all. In this case, the simplicity is just bland, and doesn't feel like Star Wars. I guess it's passable for a TV series but not for the big screen. Plus I don't really care about the Clone Wars anymore. It seems like a pointless story to tell. I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, but I don't think I will be.

looking forward to it, but the clone wars has been done, and it was done very well. This feels like a total slap in the face to the CN version. Was Lucas not happy with it and decided to redo it himself?

I'd like to know the age of the people who are posting negative comments about Star Wars. Their prob between 20 -24. To young to be a real Star Wars fan. Back then when you saw these movies in the theatres you were just amazed at how awesome they were. And even though some are better than others everyone from that era wanted to see the prequels made. I have loved every Star Wars movie because I have always been a fan and knew that the first trilogy was so great that it would be hard to exceed the bar with the second trilogy. So I watched them all with a open mind and thought that the story and effects were badass.

So... George hasn't let us down by going 3 years without a star wars movie on the big screen... yet.
But I think this movie looks cool nonetheless and I hope it is good and at least doesen't have Jar Jar making an appearence, the senate room without yoda dodging pods thrown at him by a Sith Lord or even shall i say... Jake Lloyd wondering what the fudge Midichlorians are.
I really like the animation by the way.

I am getting tired of the by-gradual taste thats seeping through america's borders these days. what happened to the joy of actually "caring for the characters" or "stop and think" rather than "ooh look the transformer's M-16 rifle is gonna twirl in the sky and land on that Bartel Drugs, ooohh". your characters can build depth in the story but people who aren't true movie fans would just play a video game for 2 in a half hours and watch ur guy bang bang bang bang at the other guy, and what movie attracted those viewers; that piece o' crap movie called transformers. so kids if you would rather watch a movie like transformers or spider-man 3 rather than the "overrated series" star wars or reading a book hey, maybe this generation or past generations have developed a more... less sophisticated taste.

Well, the Clone Wars cartoons were cool, despite my opinion regarding the animation (lacking in imagination/originality). I enjoyed the stories, and I look forward to seeing more. They seem to sit better with me than the many MANY books and comics out there that to me just dilute the Star Wars mystique.
Bring it on, George.

You know, as I read some of these comments, I'm once again struck by how short people's memories are. The ***** and moan about the terrible screenwriting and acting in eps. 1-3, but have they watched eps. 4-6 lately? What is Luke but a whiny brat with separation issues (except his is for his Father, whom he never met... At least Anakin KNEW his Mom!)? The acting and dialog by H.C. as Anakin is bad, but by far the worst acting in the whole series is done in Empire Strikes Back by M. Hamill... The Hoth hallucination scenes, and the Queen Mother of overacted scenes, the "Noooo, Noooo!!!!!" scene upon hearing Darth Vader reveal his true self... That is JUST AWFUL. Even Harrison Ford is pretty lousy, although he gets better as the series go on.
George Lucas doesn't really care what the fans want or think. Good for him. At least he's being true to himself.
Get over it, Star Wars geeks. Fact is, George or any of his offically liscenced minions could take a dump on a piece of cardboard and you'd line up to gaze upon it lovingly and with nostalgia.

I predict this thing will get lower than 50% on the Tomatometer. Anyone wanna bet me cash money I am wrong? The Ewok Adventure sucked. The Battle for Endor sucked. Droids sucked. The Ewoks cartoons sucked. The Clone Wars cartoon sucked (Lucas paid bribes to get those Emmies, it was just a bunch of half-assed battle scenes with almost no dialogue). Hell, in my opinion the last 3 movies sucked. Lucas' and his sycophants are tapped.

Lucas boastfully says something about advancing animation with this cartoon. I just got the JLA DVD and it had a trailer of APPLESEED somethin. The animation was so ridiculous (the good kind) that it makes this "new" star wars series look like stick figures. Literally. And I'm a star wars fan.
