As soon I I got out of the movie theater, I thought---"Wow, this reminds me of the t.v. series LOST." If you have a chance, try to watch the series. It is excellent with many messages and character connections.

ok honestly chris white just cant grab the concept of the movie. some people are just not intelligent enough to watch and take in all this movie has and then still be able to make sense of it. this movie will forever be a classic. i truly think it's ahead of it's time and someday this movie will be known and one of the greatest movies of all time. it brought a part of me out that i didn;'t know existed and had me wanting more. it did more than just make u think. anyone who can't understand just isn't ready and is probably too young or just likes to stick with movies like scary movie and borat. if that is there thing then so be it but if ur mind isn't open to things and if you have never just "wondered" then this isn't the movie for you. I found myself after 3 hours of watching it thinking "I wish there was more" finally a movie that doesnm't just throw words up and make some crappy plot just to get money. Cloud Atlas is The most intricate movie I have ever seen and it blows anything else away that is meant to make you think. this movie is about love, corporate corruption, oppression, irony, and just being able to be yourself and nobody else. I loved it.

I'm sorry, but I believe in Karma, and this movie hits the nail on the head for me personally. I love how the characters are all connected together like the movie Crash or Babel. I have A.D.D. and I love films/novels that have a dozen characters; very well scripted and casted. I mean the message/theme is so clear to understand by these character's narrations. If this isn't going to be a classic in later years, it will be one in mine regardless.

I agree; big yawn. That movie is like a lot of gift wrapping but nothing, no substance inside. And like almost every Hollywood movie, the good guys are black and the bad guys are white...why can't Hollywood make movies without this endoctrinating and not so subtle messages to whites that we are the worst race on the planet???
They pushed as far as to give most white characters in this movie wide noses!!! and thye chose two black actors who have narrow noses!!! they gave the 18th centry slave the most perfect whitest teeth that only many thousands of dollars of modern dentistry could provide while they gave most white characters ugly yellow teeth and wide noses...they even managed to make Susan Sarrandon ugly so obsessed they were with making white people look repulsive and mean !!! Hollywood is getting more ridiculous every day...but what do I know? I am white and thus I am bad bad bad !!!

I agree with you. Every element of this film, including casting, makeup, settings, editing, etc., is designed to carry part of the messages behind the stories. Profound effort to accomplish a near-impossible task of bringing this post-modern book to the screen. Bravo to all involved!

I am not saying it just to be mean I am saying that i have never seen such a jackass comment in my life. so you think the mobvie is about black is good and narrow noses is what???? wow u are stupid i feel sorry for your mother. please try not to speak with the adults. go play chris. you don't realize what ur talking about they tried to get people who can play different races and different genders so that they could complete there amazing idea. not to say that black people are good and have small noses. and tom hanks was good is he black? no dummy it is about karma did u notice that however the person was in there life before kinda led them to be a certain way in another life. it also is about how just being born in a certain time can totally effect everything about u and that people shouldn't let that happen and they should be themselves. it shows love is stronger than death it shows a lot more than narrow noses and black people are good. wow go away little boy

I just read your review of the film.... it was probably the worst review I've ever read of a movie. Not to mention it's entirely untrue!

List of white characters who start out good, become good, or are more or less neutral: Adam Ewing; Robert Frobisher; Rufus Sixsmith; Isaac Saachs; Timothy Cavendish and the other residents of the retirement home; Zachry; the Seer; Ursula; Zachry's tribesmen... Not to mention the fact that there are Asian characters.

ALSO, why would three white directors make a movie with the message that white people are terrible?
