Cloverfield Length, Slusho! Commercial Online
And thus, the Cloverfield rumor well runneth dry.
by Jeff Giles | December 06, 2007
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Months of pre-release buzz have told us pretty much everything we need to know about Cloverfield, the formerly-untitled, J.J. Abrams-produced monster movie hitting screens in a few short weeks. What's left to discuss?

How about the movie's length? According to ShockTillYouDrop, filmgoers with nether regions prone to numbness have nothing to fear from Cloverfield -- it's coming in at a trim 90-minute running time. (Or, as the report says, "Just enough time to bring the fam to the theater for a winter afternoon matinee and be out in time for an Outback Steakhouse dinner.")

In other Cloverfield news, a commercial for Slusho! -- the delicious frozen beverage that may or may not feature prominently in the movie -- has surfaced at the "Slusho company website." To take a look, click on the link below!

How retarded are some people!!

Its obvious that slusho is a fake drink that has to do with the heros t.v show, not a monster movie!

and if you dont believe me then watch heros!!!

there's supposedly Slusho! cups strewn about the universe that Cloverfield takes place in, leading some to believe that Cloverfield may potentially be a movie crossover involving Heroes. Obviously you've been spending too much time watching Heroes (with an E preceding the S, by the way) and not following the other projects J.J. Abrams is involved in.

I still think this movie is gonna kick ***, even with a 90 minute run-time..assuming I don't get motion sickness from the camera work.

There aren't 100 hours of heroes to watch, and besides, why would you want to? It's just taken every single good idea that American comics have had for the last 10 years and dumbed them all down...

Oh, Cloverfield, right. Hopefully Abrams can shift that present/flashback ratio much further in favor of the present than he usually does.

yo!! i just noticed something in the poster! if its been previously noticed and I'm slow just say so....but I noticed coming from the statue of liberty to NY there is a trail in the water. ya know like when a boat goes by and the wake splits it leaves smooth trail in the middle. I'm assuming the monster swims?

I have no problem with the 90 minutes thing. A good movie is a good movie, long or short, case and point "Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End" coming in at just under 3 hours, sucked monkey nuts.

I'm pretty sure that 90 minutes is an hour and a half, not an hour and 45 minutes, Ratchetcomand. My math may be wrong, but my calculator's telling me that 90 minus 60 is 30, not 45.

Cloverfield's monster is a shapeshifter that harvests the thoughts of others to manifest its various forms. This may seem simple but serves an immense purpose behind Abram's reasoning for choosing this creature. Over the decades American Cinema has been exposed to a variety of larger than life creatures, bohemoths, that have long since found a place in our imaginations.

So the creature of Cloverfield is the ultimate monster in that it is the result of every monster movie ever made. It takes our resulting imagination, our subconscious collection of these various creatures, and turns it into the ultimate monster movie. That's why these characters were made to be so down to Earth, they're meant to be a reflection of us so that symbolically its our minds that the creature uses against us.

The Slushos create a brain freeze that blocks its telepathy...or..something...

I watched that video for Slusho! and it's really messed up. Also, it's only 90 minutes? I hope they can get everything they need into those 90 minutes to make a good movie. This movie looks like it could be great or total crap.
