LFMartins writes: on Jan 31 2008 11:14 AM "a Hitchcock-style thriller that probes the mind of a former beauty queen who turns to a life of crime to protect her family." Sounds more like a comedy with Jessica Simpson or Lindsay Lohan. (Reply to this) |

rustdog writes: on Jan 31 2008 11:25 AM You're a hot young director who just made a successful movie. You can pick from numerous projects for your next film. How many of you would pick The Invisible Woman? Even if it's not some invisible spoof movie, but a well written thriller. Maybe he wants to be the next Hitchcock or De Palma or maybe he's just really lame. (Reply to this) |

bigcheeeeze writes: on Jan 31 2008 12:00 PM I liked the movie, but have no interest in a sequel, and "early reports indicate Abrams has expressed interest filming the movie entirely on the Prius backup camera." just makes me even less interested. (Reply to this) |

Shatter24 writes: on Jan 31 2008 12:16 PM I like the idea of seeing the action from another perspective, following the guy on the other side of the bridge with the camera. Maybe then we can see what happens to the creature and New York in general. Don't do it entirely, third person, "alsanali" is right, it didn't work for BW2. Maybe a mix of the two formats, first and third person, together with a star or two as supporting characters. www.thereelguy.com (Reply to this) |

Floor Man writes: on Jan 31 2008 12:16 PM Why? WHY? Gah! I wholeheartedly agree, rustdog. There are so many other (quite likely better) projects...why not pick those? (Reply to this) |

zoo_estrange writes: on Jan 31 2008 12:25 PM I'm up for the gamble of what a sequel could be, but is this a joke? Filmed from the POV of a cars back up camera? Does this mean the movie will be completely silent the whole way out? I didn't know back up cameras had the option of recording. It may be a more stable platform that wouldn't cause as much of the shaking or dizziness you get with the camcorder POV, which I believe is hurting the repeat viewings at the box office. I really liked the movie and was tempted to see it again but I recall feeling strangely claustrophobic during the film. Perhaps I've just gotten too used to modern films with a wide angle view, but I kept hoping it would open up. I have ideas for how they could get a stable wide high definition view for a sequel but I'm not in the business...yet. (Reply to this) |

Ashron writes: on Jan 31 2008 12:37 PM In reply to this comment (#1543812) Yes, I'm guessing the last paragraph was someone's lame attempt at humor. (Reply to this) |

Austra1ia writes: on Jan 31 2008 01:19 PM Yeah i think Ashron is right about that, J.J would never do something that stupid....or would he? Don't get me wrong, i actually loved Cloverfield, but i just don't see what is the purpose of a sequel. What gave the movie such intensity was that you didn't know what the monster was, adding heightened suspense as you run around not knowing what will be around every corner. The monster (& friends) has been exposed and the biggest events surrounding the attack were shown, so what next? If we got the POV of the monster that would be cool (albeit pretty stupid), but that's just about the only reason to pay 9 bucks for a sequel. (Reply to this) |

LegendofJon writes: on Jan 31 2008 01:56 PM I'm amazed at the amount of people that took the last line seriously. I didnt know the Prius backup camera had an option to record!" Jeez... (Reply to this) |

twinsfan2715 writes: on Jan 31 2008 02:09 PM i think a sequel could work. i would have it not necessarily a true sequel though. i would just show the same night from say the army's perspective. i think it would be cool to have a little cameo of Rob and Hud and the girls as they're brought into the army's quarantine.i also wouldn't strictly use the handheld cameras. it was a cool idea and it still is, but i wouldn't whore it out by making a sequel exactly the same as the original (Reply to this) |

JUDGE DREDD writes: on Jan 31 2008 03:32 PM Well, Ive yet to see Cloverfield, and I dont have a clue what a prius backup camera is. But from what i can gather, Cloverfield is filmed just on a home movie camera, right? How bout in the sequel, we see it filmed by a proper News team and broadcast like the News, kinda like CNN breaking news, or News 24, with an on the spot reporter, kinda like the news in Iraq. Or does cloverfield already do this? (Reply to this) |

a_sad_un-sorry_hashbrown writes: on Jan 31 2008 03:47 PM Well I'm happy that J.J. Abrams will be coming back, but I don't think Cloverfield needs a sequel. It's kind of like Pirates 1, where everybody was happy with just one and then Disney milked it. Looks like Paramount is doing the same thing. Plus, I enjoyed Cloverfield for the fact that there probably wouldn't be a sequel to make the movie seem a little more realistic. I don't want to ruin that great experience. (Reply to this) |

Utopian Evolution writes: on Jan 31 2008 07:40 PM Cloverfield was wonderful, a treat to todays cinematic crap that is put out. I wouldn't mind a sequel, but, then again, I don't see it being as big as say, the Pirates sequels, or as coherent... but I guess that would be judged by which viewpoint J.J. Abrams and crew decide to take the sequel. (Reply to this) |

IBelieveInHarveyDent writes: on Feb 01 2008 02:33 AM i think if they just do it from someone elses point of veiw, like if they were filming a birthday party when it attacked or something, that would be cool. plus they never said that they killed the monster in new york city, so it could take place in antoher city. smartmoviekid writes: on Feb 01 2008 04:40 AM oh my dreams may yet come true..... i really hope this sequel goes foward... they need more of an explanation of the monster, and of its back story in general. i would be first in line, just like the 1'st one. (Reply to this) |

Daniel Aaron writes: on Feb 01 2008 04:53 AM you could go third person and should they just stay with the gritty format shoot it private ryan style verse the longest day even though i think the longest day was one of the greatest war movie's ever and cannot be compared but if you kept the camera low and in the action following either a Platoon or multiple parties I still would keep the Monster it's own entity shooting it rather than following keep it observation at most it keep it man's perspective it can be done and they can explain stuff like say.....slusho. No one has really done a monster movie in total realism this one started albeit with a hand cam a great start can be expand on but will be tricky but if they a good and worth the cash they are paid they can pull it off I can see it but you would have to think it thru alot the whole thing would be made or broke by the cinematography and i would go into the science of the creature or t least what they did to wake it up who knows or if its a baby were is Momma. Just random thoughts but it can be done. Actually ll they really need to do is watch Godzilla (the new one) and don't do that. (Reply to this) |

Warheart1188 writes: on Feb 01 2008 05:45 AM Cloverfield was a great movie but I hate the POV style filmmaking. It gives me a mad headache. That's the only thing keeping me from seeing the sequel or seeing the movie on DVD. (Reply to this) |

kdbarrett writes: on Feb 01 2008 06:32 AM I loved "Cloverfield", I can't wait for the DVD (hopefully there will be lots of behind the scenes stuff), but a sequel? I'm skeptical, but willing to reserve judgement at least until the trailer comes out. (Reply to this) |

zgberg writes: on Feb 01 2008 12:46 PM In reply to this comment (#1544022) The purpose of a sequel is money, plain and simple. Its secondary purpose is to entertain those who left longing for more. (Reply to this) |

SlainOne writes: on Jul 24 2008 12:08 PM I would enjoy that. If it was from a different perspective, and was just as good. And possibly a little less shaky to please everyone else, but I felt the POV camera was what seperated it from the other monster movies... And that's the only reason I really enjoyed the movie. It was something that was unexplored, and the cutbacks to the original film with his girlfriend really added to it as well, mostly with irony. (Reply to this) |
