Brittany Murphy to Give "Tinker Bell" Her Voice
by Scott Weinberg | June 21, 2006
Blog Article | Discuss Article
Summary

Now that they've made direct-to-video sequels from allllll their classic features, the Disney gang will finally give a voice to a character who's remained mute for over 50 years -- but at least they got a solid gal for the gig: Brittany Murphy will be providing the pipes in "Tinker Bell," Disney's new animated feature that should hit theaters in Fall of 2007. Tink Talks?
"To give Tinker Bell a voice for the first time in history is such an honor."
I guess they're just referring to the animated Disney version of Tinker Bell... as Julia Roberts as Tinkerbell in Hook did actually, you know, talk...

"the amazing world of Disney Fairies in all-new CG-animation"
I hope the CG is better than the CG Tinker Bell on the Disney DVD menu...

Eh, I guess Ms. Murphy will suffice for the role.

I hate to admit, she's actually an inspired choice to voice Tinkerbell.

On the other hand, Disney has gone to the dogs. I just hope the company gets wiped off the planet. Heck, even Pixar got tarnished this year with their mediocre "Cars".

CLEAVAGE!!!
Who doesn't like a good voice with cleavage?!?! I ,personally, won't be seeing this movie. Disney has fallen from their once high throne. "Cars" was mediocre at best. They should focus on Toy Story 3, another Monsters Inc, perhaps another Nemo adventure or another outing for The Incredibles. Tinker Bell? Who the hell cares?

What I hate..
What I hate is when they feel they have to convert classic hand drawn characters to CGI. I mean, Mickey Mouse just doesn't look right as a computer generated character. I like CGI cartoons, but can't there be room for both?

Oh, yeah... and this movie's gonna blow. Disney sequels always do.
Maybe not... we'll see.

I agree. I personally perfer hand drawn over CGI (the only studio who should be making CGI films is Pixar. They're the gods of CGI!). Just because a handful of CGI films in the past became box office hits doesn't mean hand drawn animation is dead, and Disney should know that!

Hand drawn animation reflects more creative freedom from the animators than CGI, I noticed.

As for the studio who is making the film (DisneyToon), aren't they suppose to specialize in 2-D cartoons? Don't tell me they're abandoning 2-D animation as well!

2D is dead
Curious George had everything it needed to be a successful movie. Yet, it fell well short of expectations. The only form of 2D not dead, is unfortunately Anime. But now that CGI is so prevalent, the cost has lowered. This means that pieces of crap like Hooswinked and The Wild will be made. Remember, at one time, Disney was the name in 2D, then came Anastasia and Fern Gully. CGI was all Pixar, then came Shrek and Antz. It is just the next logical step in animation. It could be worse, they could have skipped this all together and gone straight to live action. Could you imagine a live action Shrek?

CGI
This film should be a hand-drawn animation...The original Tink wasn't CGI, so why should the movie...Disney is slowly but surely going down the drain sadly, they have abandoned their roots....

tink talk
If anything, Tink should sound like Marilyn Monroe. I always thought of Tink as an older woman...not a B. Murphy.
