Achingly elegiac sci-fi story of love and memory lost - an Oedipal tragedy for the genetically modified age.

The film is like bypass surgery: clinically precise but always in control of your heart.

Winterbottom's sci-fi romance is in a class of its own. Robbins and Morton [are] clearly in their element here.

Cinematography, production design and music are all top-notch, but the film largely succeeds because of the leads -- two fine actors at the top of their game.

Wow.... [Code 46] is, while drawing on and inspired by classic films, utterly original, in a way that is particularly thrilling for fans of true science fiction movies.

Winterbottom's movie may be cold, but it's still pretty cool.

It's probably bad critical form to recommend a movie based largely on abstractions like 'vibe,' but Winterbottom does such a glorious job building his world that a certain breed of filmgoer can get punch-drunk lost in the pure cinema of it all.

A provocative, classy, low-key sci-fi tale that presents a world so within reach it's scary.

A curious and mostly rewarding tale of a love affair in a world of genetic policing and travel restrictions.

It's bracing when a movie honors an audience's intelligence, and Code 46 rewards us with a story that asks fascinating questions without pretending to have all the answers.

Given the 'Big Brother' promise that 'the Sphynx knows best,' this fusion of our sci-fi noir future and Ancient Greek tragic past looks not unlike our uneasy present.

Updates a classic premise -- the struggle for personal freedom -- by pairing it with ethical and moral quandaries.
