New Screenwriter Boards the "Punisher" Sequel
Thomas Jane has been making the internet rounds lately, and he's been telling anyone who'll listen that the world simply MUST have a sequel to "The Punisher." His most recent stop was a podcast interview in which he revealed who'll probably be writing said sequel.

Box Office Preview: Miami Vice Turns Up B.O. Heat
With cops, drug dealers, and lots of bullets flying, the action film Miami Vice hits theaters across North America this weekend with its aim squarely on the number one spot. Young kids, meanwhile, will be offered another animated film in the form of The Ant Bully while teens get a new high school comedy in John Tucker Must Die. The overall box office should continue to be much healthier than last year as the Jack Sparrow-dominated month of July comes to a close.

Trailer Bulletin: Miami Vice
Michael Mann was one of the creators of the very popular 80s cop series "Miami Vice," so when the inevitable time came to turn the show into a movie, there was only one logical choice for director. "Walk the Line" director James Mangold has his next project ready to roll. It's a remake of the 1957 western "3:10 to Yuma," which he'll be putting together with producer/spouse Cathy Konrad.

The Rock Talks "Spy Hunter"
ComingSoon.net's Alice Chapman Newgen had a recent chat with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the wrestler-turned-actor who has a pair of video game adaptations in the pipeline. While his "Doom" opens this Friday, Mr. Johnson looks toward "Spy Hunter," which should go into production as soon as the script is ready.

A Quartet of Performers Sign Up for Pang's Next Horror
Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter comes some casting news on an upcoming and as-yet-untitled horror movie from Oxide & Danny Pang. The Columbia Pictures project now has Kristen Stewart ("Panic Room"), Dylan McDermott ("Texas Rangers"), Penelope Ann Miller ("The Relic"), and John Corbett ("Serendipity") among its cast members, and shooting is scheduled to begin in Canada any day now.

From director Rob Cohen ("The Fast and the Furious," "xXx") comes the tale of a computerized mega-jet that gets zapped by lightning and starts blowing up stuff it's not supposed to. Our heroes come in the form of three elite naval pilots, as played by Josh Lucas ("The Hulk"), Jamie Foxx ("Collateral"), and Jessica Biel ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre").

?Harry Potter? Leads Saturn Awards Noms
"Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" leads the 2005 Saturn Awards with nine nominations, including those for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writer. "Kill Bill Vol. 2" and "Spider-Man 2" follow closely with seven nominations each. "Collateral" and "House of Flying Daggers" each received four noms, while "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Sky Captain and The World Of Tomorrow," and "Van Helsing" received one each.
