Chip Saunders (Vic Morrow); the excellent ensemble cast included a large number of guest stars in addition to the series regulars. Known for its realism, the show was valued for its insight into the conditions of war as in real life the conflict in Vietnam raged on. The show honored the soldiers and showed the humor, tragedy, and friendships that characterized their everyday existence.
