This doc is part performance video, part backstage/behind the scenes look at a comedy tour Patton Oswalt did with fellow alternative comics Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, and Maria Bamford.

It's really offbeat, weird, and kooky, kind of like the four comics themselves. A lot of the onstage stuff is very dry, but the rest is where I found most of the overt humor to be.

It's somewhat lacking when it comes to getting deep insights into these people, and they really are quite weird (especially Bamford, who kinda creeps me out), and perhaps a tad boring when not in performance mode. But overall, it is interesting to see the lives of comedians behind the scenes done shorter and less heavy handed than in Funny People.

I did like it though, for the most part. If you like offbeat stuff, then you'll perhaps enjoy this.

Being a relatively recent fan of Patton Oswalt, I was excited to watch this documentary about the tour he did a few years back with Brian Posehn, Zach Galifianakis, and Maria Bamford. Sadly, if you're already familiar with the material then all you get are wacky backstage hijinks, some of which are funny and some which are not. No real insight into the people themselves, other than watching Oswalt and Posehn embrace and discuss their nerdiness on comic shop Wednesdays.

To start here I have to begin by saying comedy is subjective and everyone has their own opinion of what is funny and what is not. Personally, I found this to be a terrifically funny and entertaining look at what life on the road is like for many modern-day comedians. Patton Oswalt has always been a favorite of mine, but I very much enjoy Brian Posehn, Maria Bamford and Zach Galifianikis as well. Maybe it's because I more closely identify with them and their "off-beat" personalities, this probably stems from the fact that I've been a proud "nerd" all my life. These are people who were brave enough to stand out by simply being themselves and not trying to fit into any category or alter their personalities in order to endear themselves to a wider audience. Brian and Patton are 40- year old comic book lovers, how could you not find that refreshing? Too many people take life much too seriously and spend most of it worrying about what everyone else thinks of them, these are INDIVIDUALS who could not care less about that. The comedy in this film is not always laugh-out-loud funny, but it is not forced. It's honest and unapologetic, which is what comedy is really all about. A great documentary, check it out

too stoned review: cant ber bothered typin right now just wasnr funny comedians r boring
two days later review: This doc follows the comics it says it does only to reveal something most of us already know -comedians are fucking boring. Yeh, they're funny when they're paid to be, but when they're not on stage, they're not havin orgies and drum circles in the tour bus, they're just getting drunk, farting, and napping like a retirement home with the occasional injection of humor observed when the comedians are working on their act or engaging in comedian talk with one another (analyzing jokes, sets, shit like that).
If you are a fan of Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt, or Zack Galifianakis and you want to see their butts, watch this movie. Chubs Posehn and Oswalt strip down to nadda but their bullocks in hand, and cubby Galifianakis is eager to show off his hot rear on the tour bus. Thus ends the highlights of this movie - a weirdo piano playing cock tease is eager to show off his plump buttocks and two insecure bitchy chubs walkin around naked in the woods. And Maria Bamford's set. But you could just watch "The Comedians of Comedy: Live at the El Rey" and just see the standup bits rather than watch this, which has bits from that El Rey gig and a few others, but really only for CoC fans.
Might be worthwhile for Galifianakis fans as he is not at the El Rey show, but I don't know his material, so I don't know if anything on here is unique.

A great documentary about real comedians. Brian Posehn's explanation of Star Wars is one of the funniest bits I have ever heard.

A good documentary showing the behind the scenes antics from the Comedians of Comedy tour with Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifanakis, Maria Bamford and Brian Posehn.  Nothing groundbreaking, it?s more of a puff piece, but lots of laughs.

Kinda unfunny. I would give this a pass.

Yeah, it needs a better editor to cut some of the slack. Still -- for what it's worth, I can hardly grade this subjectively. These are four of the greatest comics on the planet right now, and there's talent here so knee-jerk and natural you might not get it when you're high.

Nerd alert! They are complete dorks and the behind the scenes stuff is funnier than the onstage acts. The jokes are geeky, weird and narrow. I bet a lot of people won't get them. or care to.

I love live comedy, and these four are hilarious. Why don't they EVER come around my area? Back to the movie, it's a cool "on the road" documentary about the indie rock club tour Patton Oswalt, Zach Galifinakis, Maria Bamford, and Brian Posehn take. Showcases their individual sets and also shows them being goofy nerds in various restaurants/comic book shops/radio stations.

Entertaining documentary following four very funny comedians on an "indy comic tour". There's something exciting behind the ideas Patton Oswalt has for indy comics, namely that he and his compatriots are trying with this tour to get audiences to start following the progression of indy comics' careers much as you'd follow the progress of an indy rock band, watching as they experiment with new ideas and new material. Since it's a documentary following the actual tour, we don't get to see as much of the stage acts as I'd have liked, but what is shown is funny stuff. And it's interesting to listen to them talk about how they develop their materials, horror stories from their time on the road in dive clubs, and just watching them play off each other as they explore every facet of what "comedy" is.

Okay, I was really shooting to review the new Comedians of Comedy: Live at the Troubadour DVD, but apparently that's not really a movie so much as concert footage. Fine, I'll review this one. It doesn't really matter because I love both movies and I just saw them at their Ann Arbor show, which was awesome.

I didn't care for the shameless Netflix advertisement. Sure, I'm anti-Netflix, so that could explain a lot, but it was everywhere. But that aside, it was refreshing seeing the personal lives of these very funny people. I have to say that these people are the funniest people on the planet. That's not me using hyperbole. These people make me laugh more than anyone else ever. I actually follow these people's careers and judge if I'm going to see something or not based on their apparances in film. It's gotten to that level of fandom. I'm actually tempted to see the new Sean Penn vehicle because of Zach Galifianakis. That's right.

The sweet-and-low of this DVD is that it is a healthy mix of performances and documentary following their lives. Is it accurate? Probably as accurate as any documentary can get. At the end of the day, you'll probably laugh a lot and wish you could hang out with these guys. That's a pretty solid find within a DVD.

Loved it. It had my two favorite things, a documentary and stand up comedy. It also appealed to the giant nerd that I love so much.

The premiere Comedians of Comedy tour was one of the most innovative stand-up events in recent memory. Unfortunately, this lackluster documentary does little to convey that. Comprised of randomly chosen scenes from Comedy Central's 'Comedians of Comedy' docu-series, this film brings you the worst of everything - the most awkward moments, the bits that fell flat, the dullest road stories, etc. - and presents them out of chronological order. The result is amateurishly slapdash, and provides no insight as to who the comedians are, or what the tour was about. For a better take on the whole thing, check out the TV series, now on DVD.

Patton Oswalt cracks me up. That short, chubby little dude is hilarious.

And the other comedians are pretty funny, too.

Let me start off by saying: "I don't like Patton Oswalt. He does not amuse me as a comedian, and he does not amuse me as an actor. Just because he preaches anti-Bush jokes does not mean he deserves my respect; he's like a male Margaret Cho." - With that being said, I love the parts with Zach Galifianakis and Brian Posehn. Maria Bamford can be amusing occasionally, but she tends to lean more towards the annoying side. - All in all, I enjoyed the experience.

Two of my favorite comedians and a couple others who are amazing. Ok, how cool. I just wish I could have seen the tour myself.

Wow is this on DVD even? it's a TV show and it was hilariously funny. IT wasn't as good as Tourgasm because the comedians were not themselves most of the time... they were putting on a facade and acting... it got annoying...
