Suddenly catapulted into the mall-dwelling teenage wilderness of New Jersey, New York City girl Lola feels like her life has come to an abrupt halt. Longing for a return to the bright lights of the metropolis, her only salvation from the monotony of suburban life is the music of her favorite rock band, Sidarthur. Fortunately for Lola, she meets Ella (Alison Pill), a fellow Sidarthur fan, who provides a modicum of intelligent life amongst the scornful cliques running rampant throughout her high school. However, Lola's big-city attitude puts her in a heap of trouble, especially when she crosses paths with the most popular girl in school, Carla (Megan Fox). Keen to usurp Carla from her high-and-mighty position, Lola sets out to take the much-desired lead in the school play, a position her archrival desperately covets. But when Sidarthur announces it is breaking up and playing a sold-out farewell show in New York City, a ticketless Lola makes it her mission to travel back to her own personal Mecca, see the performance, and meet her number one crush, singer Stu Wolff (Adam Garcia). With Carla hot on her heels, and in possession of a ticket for the concert, the frantic and frequently funny story arc builds nicely towards its conclusion in this bubbly coming-of-age tale. [More]

  • Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen
  • From the studio that brought you the smash hits FREAKY FRIDAY and THE PRINCESS DIARIES, CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN stars Lindsay Lohan (FREAKY FRIDAY) in a hip and hilarious coming-of-age comedy for the whole family! When the always dramatic Lola (Lohan) and her family move from the center of everything in New York City to the center of a cultural wasteland in suburban New Jersey, she feels her life is simply not worth living! But no matter who or what gets in the way, Lola won't give up on her life's ambition: to be a star! In a crowd-pleasing movie treat bursting with music, dance, and excitement, Lola's fun-filled adventure won't be glamorous or easy, but it might just show her that real life could exceed even her wildest dreams!

Mixes The Brady Bunch, Britney, Saved by the Bell, Hilary Duff and anything else that Disney thinks kids are still watching today.

Gives [Lohan] ample time to act starry-eyed and show off her dancing and singing, but little chance to prove she can hold her own among the Hilary Duffs of the world.

Lindsay Lohan stars in this modest, mildly engaging film as a proudly bohemian resident of Greenwich Village who is transplanted to a prosperous suburb in New Jersey.

More of a concept than a story, the plot serves basically as an extended segue between music videos.

Much like The O.C. has taken the place of Beverly Hills 90210, this latest Lindsay Lohan Disney comedy tries to mine the territory vacated by Hilary Duff.

At a time when crassness and dumbing down pervade popular entertainment, especially movies aimed at youthful audiences, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen dares to be smart.

Parents may be more willing to put up with the movie's logical loopholes than its casual treatment of behavior they would not want their children to imitate.

What a teenage girl really wants at the movies is what grown-ups want, and not to be talked down to like her kid sister.
