As Mick "Crocodile" Dundee (Paul Hogan) sits in a canoe sharpening his famous knife, a monstrous croc hides somewhere in the deep. Suddenly, it attacks, tearing Mick's boat to pieces and leaving him and mate Jacko (Alec Wilson) up a tree. Life for Mick can only get easier, right? When Mick arrives at home, he discovers longtime companion Sue's (Linda Kozlowski) newspaper-mogul father has called, and needs her help on an article at the paper's Los Angeles branch. Mick, who recognizes his importance in the modernizing bush is now no more than as a tourist attraction, agrees to join her, and together Mick, Sue, and son Mikey (Serge Cockburn) head for the wild country of L.A. Here the adventure truly begins, as Mick and Jacko brave a cowboy bar where the horsemen are of a different color, and a Hollywood film party where everyone seems interested in Mick's mate Malcolm "Mal" Gibson's colorful exploits. Soon, Sue's article leads to a sleazy film producer, so Mick gets a job as a monkey wrangler at his studio, where his investigation uncovers some very sketchy goings-on. Once again, "Crocodile" Mick with his dazzling wit puts the noble back in savage. [More]

Reviews for Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles
Depending on one's point of view, either a polite antidote to the rampant nastiness of current comedy, or an uninspired throwback.
The choppy, fragmented story tries desperately to modernize the fish-out-of-water theme that worked so well in the original, but winds up resorting to sitcom sleuthing.
Lacking enough energy to even be really bad, the low-energy ramble goes through the same fish-out-of-water routines that didn't look spiffy when Paul Hogan's Croc went to NYC in 1988.
Gator-out-of-water jokes so painfully dated they'll elicit crocodile tears before laughs.
So good-natured and tame that you can't help but let it win you over.
This latest, utterly gratuitous chapter in the saga of the wisecracking reptile hunter will add nothing to the ever-dimming reputation of the Subaru pitchman.
Its humor remains suitable for youngsters yet doesn’t gouge their psyches with the 'circle of life' and 'you can do it' self-esteem lessons that by this time have become pretty tiresome.
It's a greatest-hits collection along the lines of last weekend's Beverly Hillbillies marathon on TV Land or Tim Conway's Dorf on Golf videos, where nostalgia and comedy are run through a food processor until they become a flavorless paste.
You don't expect much from a film called Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles and, not surprisingly, you don't get much. But even lowered expectations don't quite prepare you for this thin third entry in the franchise.
Despite its derivativeness and predictability, the film will likely please family-minded audiences looking for nothing more than an amiable, good-hearted time at the movies.
It means well ... This does not indicate, however, that you should necessarily plunk down money for the third film in the Crocodile Dundee series.
There's not much here. Then again, there's not much here to object to, either.
The latest Dundee is equal parts tame sequel and 95-minute commercial for the Subaru Outback.
