The filmmakers wisely decided to let Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin do what he does best, and fashion a story around him.

With the help of wife Terri and dog Sue, Irwin embarks on another series of dangerous missions--rescuing snakes, spiders, and baby kangaroos from their current locations and transferring them to safer spots in the Australian Outback. Since this is a feature film, director John Stainton and screenwriter Holly Goldberg Sloan concoct a fictional story to give Irwin's adventure an added kick in the tail. Their concept, a sufficiently outlandish one concerning a shotgun-wielding cattle rancher (Magda Szubanski), CIA operatives, and a missing U.S. government satellite, does the trick quite nicely. The point of this picture, and in fact, the point of anything Steve Irwin-related, is Steve Irwin himself. And with COLLISION COURSE, Irwin proves that his cartoon-like presence is a supremely engaging one, no matter the venue. But Irwin is neither a sensationalist or an exhibitionist. He's a lover of animals as well as nature, and it is this childlike fascination with the earth's deadliest creatures that makes him such a wonder to behold. Crikey! [More]

Reviews for The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course
The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course is one of the most unusual movies I've ever seen, but it remains faithful to Irwin's appeal, and therefore it works.
I just saw this movie... well, it’s probably not accurate to call it a movie.
It's part Discovery Channel, part evening at the Aussie improv, and it proves surprisingly watchable even at 90 minutes.
This tirelessly jolly enthusiast proves a more than worthy film subject, with daredevil stunts which surpass anything seen since the glory days of Douglas Fairbanks (and with terrifying beasts, no less).
Steve Irwin's method is Ernest Hemmingway at accelerated speed and volume.
Irwin is so earnest that it's hard to resist his pleas to spare wildlife and respect their environs. There are far worse messages to teach a young audience, which will probably be perfectly happy with the sloppy slapstick comedy.
The Irwins' scenes are fascinating; the movie as a whole is cheap junk and an insult to their death-defying efforts.
Hey, at least the title of this film lets you know exactly where it's heading.
'You can't handle Steve Irwin in anything more than half-hour increments. At 90 minutes, I was hoping a giant reptile would gobble me up and put me out of my misery.'
